Chapter 5

KEVIN POV

I watched as he slowly fell unconscious, into a deep slumber. My rapid pulse gradually declined into an unfaltering throb. Watching his small petite yet masculine chest rise and fall, the gentle twitch of his fingers and the way his lips flutter made me warm. His small body seem to call out to me, asking me dearly to hold it. Hold it like it was the last thing I would ever hold. I ran my fingers down his forearms with the lightest touch.

"Kevin?" Edd sighed. He had a look of abhorrence painted of his face. He was afflicted inside, that I could tell just by looking at him.

"Edd what happened?" I demanded. Knowing what his answer would be I added," And I don't want to hear some made up story about how clumsy you are. What ever happened tell me, don't try to keep it for my sake."

Edd seemed to relax at my words," Your friends..." He started.

"What about them?" I responded. He looked like he was debating whether or not he should tell me.

EDD POV

I don't want to tell him, knowing I will be the reason conflict will be brought upon his team.

"EDD!" Kevin shouted and grabbed my arm. I look away, I can't bring myself to meet his gaze."Edd just spit it out."

"Your friends threatened me t-to stay away from you." I finally admitted. His eyebrows furrowed and his grip on my arm tightened. This is why I didn't want to tell him, he's furious.

"The same ones that approached you at lunch the other day?" He asked, trying to calm himself. I nodded and he looked at me for a long time. Finally he released my arm and took a step back, ran his long narrow finger through his thick red hair. He paced himself around my room until his eyes landed back on me. He lay next to me, clutching me close to his chest.

"Edd I'm sorry, don't worry about it. I'll handle it." Kevin told me as he kissed my forehead.

"Kevin, plea-"

"Don't worry about it, I said I'll handle it." He interrupted. We lay there for what felt like hours.

"Edd, I'm happy you decided to go without your beanie today, you looked hot." He said while running his fingers through my hair. I've never been confident about my hair, but that's beginning to change. Kevin is finding a way to lead me away from my insecurities, I don't know if he's doing it intentionally but it's making me so happy.

Kevin arrived to school early the next morning, along with Edd of course. The previous night he desperately tried to convince Edd to stay home from school just for a day, but Edd insisted he was well enough not to miss school. Considering the business he had to take care of today, it would have been convenient for Edd to stay home. He left Edd to run, perilously trying to devise a tactic to confront his friends, but every scenario ended with him fighting three to one. He isn't the type to rely on someone else to fight his battle so he'd be on his own. He dug in his pocket to retrieve his phone. He sent a text to his best bud Caspian.

Yo Cas, I'm in deep shit right now -Kevin.

Sup dude, is it about double dude? -Caspian

Yeah, about what the guys did to him. I'm pissed and don't know what to do. -Kevin

Well since you have a brick for a brain i'll help you, meet me in the parking lot we're skipping first period.

Edd sat in class confused as to why Kevin wasn't in first period, especially since they arrive extra early. The only thing he could do is hope Kevin won't do something stupid. He was tempted to send him a text, but he figured it'd be best if he just wait till first period was over.

Kevin has been avoiding Edd all day, he couldn't face him knowing what he was planning on doing. As he entered the cafeteria he successfully slipped past Edd and continued looking for the jocks that caused harm to his dork.
