''Well, this is it,'' Vanitas mused from beside you.

''Yeah. One way or another, this case gets decided today,'' you said, letting out a breath.

''Eh, don't worry so much. You got me at your side now,'' the raventte grinned slightly, clapping your shoulder.

''Like that'll do much,'' Seph muttered.

''Hey!''

''Come on guys, calm down a little will ya'?'' Sora imputed, trying to placate the bantering males.

''Leave 'em, this way they may be quieter in the trial,'' you smiled, but not feeling much better despite the amusing scene.

Your eyes wondered from the guys in front, not really looking like you wasn't really thinking; just detached from the world. It helped calm your thoughts and the dread that had sneakily built up in your gut. You couldn't deny that you was anxious; maybe even frightful, but you had to do this nonetheless. You would do this.

'...!'

'Prosecutor... Bunansa.'

Just like the other times you've seen your current enemy, he strode up to you with confidence; regardless of the fact he wasn't in home territory.

''I received a call from the public prosecutor's office yesterday,'' the sandy brunet stated clearly, only now noticed by the bickering trio. ''He told me that whatever Mr. Guado says today, it will be the "absolute truth." No matter how you try to attack his testimony... If I raise an objection, I have it on good faith that the judge will listen to me.''

'What, does Guado have the judge in his pocket, too!?'

''So... you're saying I'm going to be guilty. End of story?'' you stated.

Balthier was quiet for a moment, choosing his next words carefully, ''I will do anything to get my verdict, Miss. [L/Name]. Anything. Man or woman, there's no difference.''

''Why... Why!? How can you torment an innocent person like this!?'' Sora shouted as his brother tried to shush him.

'''Innocent'...? How can we know that? The guilty will always lie, to avoid being found out. There's no way to tell who is guilty and who is innocent! All that I can hope to do is get every defendant declared 'guilty'. So I make that my policy.''

''You've changed Bunansa,'' your boss stated coolly.

''Hmm?'' was the only thing that had come from the previously accused since the prosecutor payed a little visit.

''Sephiroth! You know him!?'' you gasped.

''Don't expect any special treatment just because she is your protege, Sephiroth Crescent,'' with that, the other man left to get ready for the trial.

''Sephiroth...?''

''Well... court will be opening for session soon,'' Seph said, swiftly changing the subject before you could question.

''What? But wait! Your defense attorney isn't even here yet! He's not-'' Sora began before you cut him off.

''I'll be defending myself.''
