Dream:

Carlos was on the tourney field watching as Jane finished up her cheerleading practice. This was the day he finally told her. After all the girls were gone, Carlos made his way over to her with knots in his stomach. "H-hey Jane", he said nervously. "Hey Carlos. What's up?", Jane asked with a smile that made him even more nervous. "I just wanted to tell you that I think you're the smartest, the prettiest, the nicest...", he began before he suddenly noticed her looking behind him. "CARLOS DARLING!", he suddenly heard his mother yell from behind him. "Mother", is all he said as he placed Jane behind him. "How long must I wait for the wand, Carlos?", Cruella asked as she made her way towards the two. "Carlos, what is she talking about? Are you still evil?", Jane asked, backing away from the two. "No, no, no, no, no. Jane I can explain", he said before Cruella forcibly jerked his body around. "Are you going to get me the wand or not Carlos", she asked, gripping him hard. Carlos said nothing. "You're supposed to do as your mother tells you too", she said angrily, gripping his left shoulder so hard he couldn't help but gasp in pain. She looked him dead in the eyes and squeezed him even harder.

Reality:
"Carlos? Carlos, wake up", Jane says, gently shaking him. His eyes shoot open and he breathes heavily; jumping at the sight of Jane. She jumps slightly too as he wipes sweat of his forehead. He looks over at the clock. Twelve-thirty. He'd been asleep for at least two or three hours. "Are you okay?", Jane asks, concern on her face. "What are you doing in here?', Carlos asks in response. "I was on my way to find Mal and I saw your door was open. I came over to say 'Hi' and you were thrashing around in your sleep", she tells him in an innocent tone. As he sits up, he gasps in pain and grabs his left shoulder. "What's wrong?", Jane asks, placing a hand on his knee. "My shoulder", Carlos says through gritted teeth. Jane rolls up his sleeve and sees a giant purple bruise on his arm. "How did this happen?", Jane asks, her eyes full of fear for the young boy.

He at her for a moment before saying, "I need to talk to Evie." As he jumps up, he looks back at Jane and says, "Thank you for waking me up Jane, but this is just something I need to talk to Evie about okay?" She nods and says, "I get it. She's your best friend." He smiles and quickly gives her a hug before making his way to Evie and Mal's room. He frantically begins knocking on the door waiting for someone to answer. Finally, Evie answers. "Carlos? Is everything okay?", she asks. "I-I had another nightmare. And this happened", he tells her, showing her the bruise. She gently runs her hand over it as he says, "Lucky for me Jane saw me and woke me up." Evie looks at him and sighs. "Look Carlos, I was happy to stay up with you last night and you know that. But, today I planned to spend some time with Mal and work on a chemistry experiment with Doug", she tells him. She sees that he is upset and fearful, so she gently holds his shoulders and says, "Carlos, I'm not ditching you, I promise. I just need to spend time with other people." He nods sadly as she looks past and sees a concerned Jane standing not far away. "Why don't you spend the day with Jane? I'm sure she'd do something to take your mind off the nightmares", she suggests with a smile. He says, "Okay", and begins walking away before she pulls him back and wraps him in a hug. "I love you Carlos, you know that", she says. He hugs her back and says, "I know. I love you too", before making his way over to Jane.

"So, you've been dreaming of your mother hurting you?", Jane asks as they walk down the halls of the school. "Yeah. But I don't understand why though", Carlos tells her. "Well, is this a particular time of year that brings back memories for you?", she considers, wanting to help him however she can. "No. I don't think so. It's not her birthday, I know that for a fact. She was born near winter because she made extra sure she got a huge fur coat for her birthday", he explains, moving closer to her. "Is it your birthday month maybe?", she asks. "I couldn't tell you if I wanted to. My mother never told me when I was born", he answers, looking at the ground. Jane feels her heart breaking and gently takes his hand in hers. "You don't know your own birthday?", Jane asks in a sad tone. "Nope. But I know there was one day where my mother got extremely angry out of nowhere and said I ruined her looks so she hurt me a little worst than usual. Even though I can't remember the day, I have a feeling that's my birthday", he explains.

Jane looks at him with eyes full of sadness. How could someone not know their own birthday? She pushes the thought aside as they make their way outside. They walk through the garden and talk for hours upon hours. Eventually, they make their way into town and see a young man selling ice cream. "You want some ice cream?", Carlos asks, smiling for the first time today. Jane grins and says, "Sure." He smiles and makes his way over to the guy as he pulls out a black and white spotted wallet. Jane smiles as she turns around and see Audrey and Lonnie smiling and laughing from a distance. She mouths a 'What?' to them as Lonnie attempts to form a heart with her hands; Audrey finally fixing it for her. Jane shakes her head and mouths a 'No', but that didn't stop the two girls from giggling as they walk off.

"Here you go", Carlos suddenly says, getting Jane to return her attention to him. "Plain vanilla is okay, right?", he asks nervously. "Yeah. It's my favorite. And let me guess you got...", Jane begins before Carlos cuts her off. "Chocolate. Yup", he laughs, taking a quick lick of his treat. Jane smiles as they continue their walk around Auradon. They talk all day till they finally notice the sun is starting to go down. So, they decide make their way back to Carlos' dorm before missing curfew. "Thanks Jane", he says with a smile. "For what?", she asks with a shy grin. "For...being there for me. I know Evie needed to rest after last night and I shouldn't have been so upset. But you were there and made me feel ten times better than I did earlier", he answers with a smile, his hand in hers. "I'm glad I could help", she says with a grin. They stand in silence for a minute before Carlos quickly places a kiss on her cheek. She stands there in shock before Carlos says, "I'll see you tomorrow, Jane." "See you tomorrow Carlos", she says in a flustered tone. He watches her walk away before slinking into his room where Jay sat on his bed with a sneaky smile on his face.

"What?", Carlos asks with a grin. "You sly de Vil", Jay laughs, Carlos rolling his eyes at the pun. "Are you two, like...together now?", he continues with a smile. "No. We just hung out, that's all", Carlos answers with a grin. "And you kissed her", Jay smiles. "I kissed her cheek, that's it", Carlos replies. Jay just snickers as Carlos gets ready for bed. "We're not together man", Carlos laughs as he pulls his pajama shirt on. "Whatever you say. You think you're gonna sleep okay tonight?", Jay asks as he takes off his boots and climbs under his blankets. "Yeah. I think I will", Carlos replies as fluffs up his pillow. "Wait. Where's Dude?", Carlos asks, looking around for his friend. "I think Evie took him for the night. He's still talking so...", Jay says before Carlos cuts in. "Yeah. I get it. She wants me to sleep as much as possible now", he laughs as he turns his light off.

Dream:

Carlos was alone. He was still in Auradon, but there wasn't a soul around. No Evie. No Jay. No...no Jane. He turned and saw Cruella leaning against a wall. "Carlos, I'm not going to yell at you", she said in a creepy voice as she walked towards him. She took his and, making him flinch. "Come on and take a walk with mommy. We're just going to talk", she said, swinging their arms back and forth as they walked. They walked in silence for a very long time as Carlos fearfully waited for her to say something. "Do you remember when you were eight and I got upset at you for messing up a coat so I pushed you down and you accidentally sprained your wrist?", Cruella suddenly said. Carlos did remember and, for once, it truly was an accident. "Yes. I remember", he said meekly. "Well you know that was an accident and I do feel sorry for it", she replied with, what sounded like sympathy in her voice. "Carlos, I do miss you", she continued. "Don't you miss me at all?", she asked. "I told you I do didn't I?", he answered, remember the last time his mother asked him that here. "Well, if you want us to be together again, you need to get me that wand", she told him, turning him till he was in front of her. She placed his hands gently in hers. "I-I can't get you the wand mother", Carlos told her. Her face remained calm as she spoke. "Carlos, I can be very gentle, or I can be very aggressive", she said sweetly, lightly squeezing his hands. "Now, are you going to get me the wand or not?", she continued. "N-No", Carlos said fearfully. She gently placed one of her hands over his while the other remained beneath it. "See Carlos, the last time your wrist was sprained, it was an accident. But if it breaks...it's not", she told him. Then, as quick as she'd said it, she took his wrist and snapped it.
