Prologue:
In the year 2020, an infectious disease spread throughout the human population.
At first, many people weren’t affected or afraid of the consequences that were un-none at the time. However, with more research and investigations, scientist discovered the virus was harmless.
Except an abnormal birthmark to appear on one’s body. This mark would determine your loved one. Your soul mate. Your ‘one true love’. This is because only one significant other has the same birthmark as one’s self.
For example: You could have a small cat like mark on your upper left arm. Only one other person has that same mark as you. Your lover for the rest of your life.
Laws were enforced upon the entire world! Once you’ve found your partner, you cannot participate in other relationships or partnerships. If convicted of this felony, it concludes the death of you and your soul mate.
By the time you’re 20; all civilians are expected to have found their partners. If not, they are quarantined away from other people searching for the soul mates or ones who are already together.
At the vulnerable age of only 17, Tayla-Mae is shipped off to Northern California for yet another 2 years of high school. Away from her small town home in the middle of southern England.
