The secrete of the shadows

Chapter 5

Anderson and the guards raced to the carriages. Anderson hopped in the nearest one while many guards raced to the lower sector. Even though the Shadows said they poisoned the water and the scientist agreed, Grant could still be in danger. Anderson cursed under his breathe. Why hadn't he told Grant to stay away? And then it hit them. Their argument he was completely distracted. As the carriage moved onward Anderson couldn't help but feel hopeless this was all his fault.

Grant
Grant followed Cora down the streets. Not many people were out which was weird because it wasn't late out. Grant didn't think about that to much though because he was going out to eat with Cora. He kind of thought of it like a date. Just her and him. Grant was used to princesses all over him, but Cora seemed different. It was those girls job to get married to a prince and build alliances. Grant's parents never supported that though. Now Grant was with someone he actually liked. Soon he snapped out of his thoughts when he came to a restaurant. It was a little run down building with thin walls. Grant followed his companion inside. She spoke to the guy quietly in some other langue and gestured that Grant sat with her at a table in the corner. "Grant thanks for coming here. I know it doesn't look like much, but it is an amazing Italian restaurant. I used to come here with my mom a lot. There are some restrictions to the menu because the owners don't have a lot of money." Cora said as she fidgeted with her hair. "Of course! I have been looking forward to it all day." Soon their waitress  came. She had long hair and looked about 20 years old. " what can I get you to drink your highness?" she said as she bowed. " Um I will just have water thank you" Grant said the waitress waved her hand at Cora and said "you?" Cora replied with "tea please." The waitress left only to come back with the drinks they ordered. Cora moved her straw around as they talked about their families. He hadn't seen her take a sip, but maybe she wasn't thirsty. Grant drank the whole cup and was about to ask for more when Raelienne bursted in the restaurant. "Grant we need to go the shadows are coming" she said as she grabbed onto Grant's arm.  Just as she touched him a man in a black getup came in. "Hand him over"
" no never" Raelienne challenged.
The shadow took sword and impaled her.She fell on the table. Grant and Cora looked absolutely horrified. Just as the shadow turned to fire on the prince and the girl guards raced in and  quickly killed the man. Grant couldn't take his eyes off of his relative. A pool of blood was around the table and the floor. Her eyes had rolled back and you could see her organs. Anderson quickly ran to Grant and grabbed his brother as he pulled him into a hug. "Grant this is very important did you eat or drink anything while you were here?" Anderson said in a panicked voice. Grant gagged and threw up an the floor. His atomic hurt and his vision hob hazy. " yah I had a whole cup of water" he said as he was swaying. Next thing he knew is that he heard Anderson scream for help as he fell into his brothers arms and passed out.
