I ignored everyone after my mom spilled her beans. I needed time to think. I spent a week in total silence. People started to worry. I nodded at everyone… I just wanted to assure them that I wasn't going crazy. Elijah and Damian left me alone, and I am very grateful they did. I don't think I can deal with boys anymore.

I explain everything to Nevaeh. With each word that passes my lips her expression changes drastically.

“You have a sister?” Nevaeh asks with a half shocked face.

          “Half.” My mouth flattens.

“Whoa. So what exactly is she? What’s her name? I want to know everything.” She straightens her spine.

“I’m a year older. She’s a Clarime. Her name is Scarlett. My mom smuggled her over to the other side where the different species don’t despise each other.” I cross my arms and blow a strand of hair free from my face.

“So the rumor I heard was right?” She sounds proud to have contributed some of the knowledge.

“Yup. My mom sent my sister there.” I’m annoyed at the situation.

“Ooh! How scandalous! I like it.” Her eyes light up at the newly discovered gossip.

“Well I don’t.” The words almost sound monotone.

“Does she know about you? About everything?” She waves her hands around.

“Apparently a witch named, Serenity, took away her memories.”

“That sucks.” She leans back in her chair and shakes her head.

“This whole situation sucks ass! First…” I start counting on my fingers. “I like two guys… That sure is going well. Then I almost die. A werewolf wants to chew on my bones and a vampire wants to suck me dry.  My mom is going to die because of me. Oh and to top all that off… My mom had an affair and has an adulterous love child.” I slam my eyes shut and drop my face into my palms. Tears threaten to explode out of my eyes.

“I’m sorry I don’t know what to say.” Her hands lift my face from my palms and she smiles. Her fingers interlock with mine.

“You just did.” I smile gently.

“I know we had a heart to heart about your whole guy situation, but don’t you think that just completely fell off the table. Like seriously. It’s not even important anymore. You should fix your family issues or at least put all your energy into them.”

“Yeah. I’m going to make sure my life doesn’t end, that I find my sister, and after my mom’s funeral; I might consider boys, but the odds aren’t exactly in their favor.” She nods.

“So we should probably go get some…” Her voice stops. Blood trickles down her eyebrows. It trails down her face. Her eyes drift shut. She falls forward. I catch her body in my arms.

“No…no…no, no, No! Please… Nevaeh!” The words tumble out of my mouth, and I drop to the floor. Her body falls with mine. I pull her into my arms. I cradle her and rock her back and forth. Tears fog my eyes. I blink them away. My heartbeat fastens. Her blonde-blue hair is drenched in blood. “Breathe! Please. Breathe. Somebody! Help me!” Nobody comes. A small breath passes her lips and relief surrounds me.

“She’s not dead… Yet.” The light flickers off. I grip her tighter.

“What do you want?” I choke out.

“A snack would be good.” Brody’s bright red eyes peer at me through the absence of light.

“We are not here to eat them.” Easton’s yellow eyes are next to Brody. Shivers wrap around my spine. “Though the thought does make my mouth water.”

“Can’t you just leave me alone?! What do you want?” My grip tightens on Nevaeh’s limp body.

“You. You’re all that’s left of the all-powerful sisters.” A new voice enters the room.

          “What?”

“I killed your sister Scarlett only last week. Oh and her boyfriend too. That was fun.” My heart slumps to the bottom of my stomach.

My sister can’t be dead. I haven’t even met her. I think to myself.

          “Who are you?”

“The name is Demetri. Now that I have your sister’s powers… I want yours.” The light flashes on. He has black hair and bright blue eyes. His frigid hands pull me from Nevaeh’s body. I kick and scream. More hands wrap around my body. A sack covers my head as a fist connects with my jaw. I blackout.
