Skylar's POV
Since the recent storm, the water thundered a bit more roughly down the large boulders. I dropped the net that I carried and breathed calmly, taking in the warm morning sunlight and the brisk river scent. I opened my eyes slowly and waved my hands in smooth and silky motions while my feet took to a dance like act that made my feet feel like they were barely touching the ground. I focused carefully and pulled up a ball of water that was a cage for the trapped fish. Now, the only missing part was the fish.
After an hour of frustrating attempts, I trudged back to the house with a net with two catfish in it. Stomping into the house, I tossed the net into a big bin in the kitchen and then washed my hands in the washbin. Hearing a high whine, I swiped my hands near my arm to wave away the mosquito before it started to feed on my blood. I wiped my hands on my apron and then took it off, throwing it over a chair. Sitting down, I felt the wood creak under my weight. I knew this chair was unstable the moment Jax and I moved in here. Too tired to care, I rested my tired feet and my exhausted mind, falling into a deep sleep.
-----------------
Kago twisted around, standing so still, I was afraid that he had died on the spot. Suddenly, his voice invaded my thoughts and roared in sincere fear and worry. His eyes blazed and Jax and I listened carefully. Soon, we became just as nervous and concerned. Sylphera had been taken away by the Azurs, and this time, she was being transported like cargo to their kingdom and soon to be locked, to ensure she stayed put. Kago could feel the connection, but it grew fainter and more distant in a couple hours. We had no choice but to keep going forward. Kago grew more and more distressed and his glistening white fur and strong build now seemed dull and vulnerable. After another hour of wandering around, we found a small old house. It was made of somewhat sturdy wooden logs and had nice steps leading to the front door. It seemed abandoned, and especially after not seeing another human in ages, I didn't hesitate to open the door when I stepped up to it. The house had three small compartments, a bedroom, a living room, and a kitchen. The living room was in the middle with the bedroom and kitchen on its sides. The bedroom had a bed, a mini dresser, and a nightstand, all made of wood. The kitchen had a small sink, a small box like stove which had a big black pipe that connected with the ceiling. There were knives, bowls, utensils, and other kitchen supplies piled under the small window, and only window in the house. The living room had a tiny fireplace and a rocking chair with a blanket draped over it. A small rug was in front of it. There was a wooden table fit for four, with wooden chairs near the fireplace. Forget the beautiful marble floors and king sized bed, after almost a day in the woods, I was satisfied with this setup. We rested for a while and then begun exploring around, sharply aware of our new found elementals that haven't been tested out yet. Finding a river about a quarter mile away from the house, I smiled in contentment. I picked up the dark blue fabric of my dress and waded into the cold water. The shoes given to me by Sylphera seemed to help me walk in the water with ease and sent a wave of sadness through my body. Jax threw himeself into the arms of the river and when he was getting dangerously close to the middle of the river, I shouted for him to come out. When I saw him struggle, the panic that hit me was like a strike of electricity. Suddenly, an uncomfortable jolt of power shook my body and I trembled with confusion. Suddenly, my body took over my mind and my eyes turned a matching sapphire color with my dress, and a tornado of water skyrocketed into the sky. Wrapped in a ball of water, Jax floated down and the water tornado dissolved back into the river. Gasping in surprise at my own abilities and also with relief, I rushed toward a wide-eyed Jax who stood near the bank of the river. Running my eye over him, I realized that he was soaking wet. With shaking hands, I decided to see if I could pull the water off of him so that I wouldn't have to clean him up later. Gently, I lifted a thin stream of water that started from his feet and spiraled up his body toward his hair. Afterwards, I tossed the stream of water back into the river. The entire time, I noticed that Jax hadn't spoken a word. Avoiding eye contact, I speed walked to wear he abandoned his clothes and tossed them at him.
"Let's go back." I quickly mumbled.
I started heading back when Jax grasped my arm. Finally, we decided to accept what had happened, as hard as it was. This was unbelievable! We were Sakinians! As we headed back to the house, I heard a high pitched shriek and screamed as I watched Jax suddenly set on fire and burn to ashes.
"Jax! No, no, no. This isn't happening. Jax wake up!" I yelled as my vision blurred.
I gasped, sitting up in a flurry of panic while cold sweat covered my body and sent chills down my spine. Looking around, I sighed when I found myself sitting in the house. Jax was quietly sleeping in the bed, and I caught a glimpse of Kago's tail as it swished around the door. Standing up, I realized that the Sun was almost setting and groaning in frustration, I started preparing the fish for dinner.
--------------------
As the last ray of light vanished beyond the horizon, I woke Jax up and coaxed some food into him before he collapsed onto the bed again. He must have had a busy training day with Kago. I cleaned up the table and brought some food out to the lion. Sitting on the doorstep, I wrapped my arms around my knees and rested my chin on them. I watched Kago chow down his dinner and listened to the harmonious chirp of the crickets, hiding in the depths of the forest. Faintly, I could hear the whooshing noise of the river as it plummeted downstream to who knows where. Tomorrow I would have to train and Jax would have to go catch something to eat. I led Kago inside and he settled down in the living room as I crawled in bed next to Jax. Listening to the steady sound of Jax's breathing, I let myself fall backwards into the arms of sleep.
Sorry for the short chapter guys! I'll try to make the next one a bit longer though. Hope you guys liked it! Vote and comment please! :)
