You're finally packed, 'phone charger, check, makeup, check.. Ugh I have everything', you say to yourself as you fasten up your weekend bag, you'd had it a while now and had personalised it to your own, band patches and badges stuck onto the front. You'd never actually went anywhere important to use it, so now was your chance.
You were on your way to meet your friend, Misha, who you had became best friends with over twitter - you both loved the same bands and it was constant back and forth fangirling between you two and all you wanted to do was finally meet.
You picked up your things and grabbed your phone to ring Misha, 'bye mum, I'm off to the train station' you shouted as you hurried out of the door and rang Misha. 'Bye, have a good time sweetheart' she shouted back.
You could feel the excitement building up as you got into the taxi.
'Hey, are you on your way?' Misha said happily down the phone.
'Im in the taxi now, should be on the train soon, oh my god, we're finally gonna meet! I can't wait to fan girl in person with you' you both laughed. 'Me too, I'll ring you soon, Mum's gonna bring me to the station soon, alright? bye'
You sat scrolling through your twitter, which was a usual occurance for you. A notification came up, '@Calum5SOS: can't wait to get back on stage tonight, secret gigs are fun ;)' you felt sad, all you wanted to do was meet Calum and tell him how much he meant to you, how much you loved him. You constantly imagined yourself being with him, how it would feel to hold his hand and cuddle him. You sighed and got out of the taxi, pulling your case alongside you and into the train station, your sadness was overridden with excitement and the happiness you felt to see Misha.
'Um hey, I'm here for the train to Brighton, can you tell me where I need to go?' You were nervous, you weren't used to travelling alone, or even going anywhere alone in general, so you were extremely nervous.
'Yeah sweetie, your train is at platform 4, just give your bags to the gentleman as you get on and he'll show you where to go'
'Thank you!' You felt accomplished, although you were 17 you never felt like an adult, but now you finally did. You got onto the train and the man showed you to your seat, you were sat at a four seat table by yourself, this made you happy as it meant you could listen to your music and browse through your twitter without feeling like you were gonna be disturbed. You put in an earphone and scrolled through your music, as usual you went straight to 5 Seconds of Summer, turned the volume to the max and sat and scrolled through Twitter, in public or not, this was a usual routine for you. The journey was only an hour and a half, so you didn't mind it neither. As you were scrolling you heard boys getting on behind you, 'ha nearly missed it guys, I told you we'd be fine though!' One of them said, you didn't want to listen to others so you put in your other earphone and sat and stared out the window as the train went along the tracks and all you could see was trees, without making it obvious, you smiled as you mimicked the words, pretending you were in your own music video. 'Cell phone calls and hashtag I don't knoooows' you smiled again, 'I need to stop, what if these guys behind me can see what I'm doing' you thought to yourself, so you stopped and turned up your music to max again. As you continued to listen, you could hear someone close to you singing, but you shrugged it off, 'boys being boys' you thought. But it got louder, you could hear a familiar voice, singing word for word what you were listening to. You paused your music, removed your earphones and slowly turned your head around, over your shoulder.
'Hey don't turn that off, I know that song! And sang it! Oh, and wrote it!' He giggled. You covered your face with your hands - you could feel your cheeks flushing red with embarrassment as you realised who it was.
'Hey cutie, take those hands of your face, Michaels just playing with ya! The little fucker loves to embarrass people' you heard coming from the opposite side, this voice you liked even more, slightly high, cute and definitely familiar. A dream it had to be, surely it was a dream, you thought to yourself as you rubbed your eyes, trying not to make it obvious you were acting different. You couldn't believe it.
'You're a fan though I'm guessing, I swear I'm not being a dick I just wanted to sing along' Michael said to you as he laughed.
'Aha, yeah, have been for a few years now, I've wanted to meet you guys for a while, I didn't expect it to be like this though' you said nervously as you smiled a massive grin, although you were trying not to. Calum showed a smile as you smiled and you blushed. He stood up an walked towards you, you could feel butterflies flying around your stomach.
'Mind if I sit here? You're on here alone, right?' He said as he looked straight into your eyes, he smiled as you replied 'yeah, I'm alone, take a seat'
'She's nervous, she's a Cal girl guys I can tell' Michael butted in, being his usual immature, yet funny self, although it was embarrassing, you liked Michaels personality and how he wasn't afraid to be so forward, you could feel yourself blushing again. You knew he was right though, it wasn't even an hour ago you were imagining you and Calum together and now you'd been sussed out.
'Shut up Mike' Calum replied, trying to be serious, but giving up and giggling instead and looking you straight in the eyes as you laughed back.
'I forgot to ask your name by the way, sorry, what is it?'
'I'm Chantelle' you replied, still feeling incredibly nervous, you were sat on a train opposite Calum Hood, how were you meant to not feel nervous?
'GUYS IM GONNA MAKE A KEEK, TRAAAAAIN RIDE' you heard Ashton shouting in the background, giggling his usual adorable little laugh. 'I'm gonna tell everyone the groundbreaking news that Luke is actually travelling somewhere without Liz' the whole group laughed, bar Luke who was sat blasting Foo Fighters from his earphones, completely unaware of what was being said. You felt like a part of something, like you'd known them ages, what you'd always wished for, apart from being with Calum.
You sat and talked to Calum the entire ride, realising all the things you had in common - music, favourite food, hobbies. You never wanted it to end.
'This is the conductor, we have now arrived in Brighton, thank you' time had flown, but at this point you wished it hadn't.
'Ill help you get your bags, are you meeting friends here?'
You then remembered you were meant to ring Misha and tell her to come to the station half an hour ago, 'shit' you cover your face with your hands again as you tell Calum.
'Dont worry, I'll stay with you, I'm sure the boys won't mind'
'That would be great, oh my god thank you, I owe you' you reply in relief, releasing your hands from your face.
'Wellllll...'
'Well?' You ask, wondering what was about to come.
'Um' he blushed, he was nervous, but he smiled and looked at you.
'I was just wondering if I could get your number and we could hang out maybe? I mean, uh, only if you want to! We're doing a gig tonight and I don't know, you can come if you like? Sorry if I'm being too forward' he was nervous and mumbling, you liked that he was being forward, you liked that he actually wanted to spend time with you.
'Of course! Here, write your number in here and give me your phone and I'll put mine in?' You quickly replied, not to sound too desperate. But you really wanted this, although you were here to see Misha, all you could think about was hanging out with Calum and being around him and the band you'd loved for years.
You swapped phones and then handed them back, just as you heard screams behind you.
'OH MY GOD IT'S CALUM, ITS YOU CALUM CAN WE TAKE A SELFIE PLEASE I LOVE YOU' a young fan screamed at him, he hugged her, you didn't feel jealous.. It's what he did with fans, it's what you'd wanted for so long, so you felt happy for them as they were finally getting what made them happy and he'd just asked for your number, you couldn't complain really.
Another girl came over and gave him a hug 'I love you Calum oh my god, my friend should be here, she loves you so much' she whispered, she was familiar, her voice sounded familiar. She turned and looked at you, 'OH MY GOD CHANTELLE IT'S YOU!' She screamed as she realised who you were. 'Did you get a selfie with Cal?' 'Um no, I uh..'
'Well, I guess I best get going now that you've found each other.. I'll see you later, right?' Calum interrupted. 'Yeah, okay, bye!' You gave him a hug as he walked towards the other guys, all of them smiling and whispering.
'What the hell?' Misha shouted, completely confused. 'I'll tell you when we get back to yours, I'm not sure if I'm still dreaming or not yet' you replied, completely blank faced. It felt like you hadn't smiled since you left him, it still felt completely unreal, you were numb.
