July 20th : 13:00 :
The police cruiser rolled into the tiny ten spot parking lot outside an ice cream parlor. It wheeled neatly in between two painted lines, and the soft purr of its engine was silenced.
The two front doors swung open and out stepped two uniformed men. Their polished badges caught the glare of the sun, the edges flashing bright gold. Their blue and black attire was accompanied by a utility belt; stocked with a knife, baton, taser, holstered gun, and a radio communicator. The belt alone was intimidating but matched with two dangerous looking men, it was enough to have any man backing out of their way.
The man who had been driving was built tough and hid a crew cut under his helmet. His partner was younger, with slender features, and a nervous frown upon his face.
"Ready" asked crew cut, in a deep commanding voice. It was the younger man's first job, and he didn't know what to expect. He had a simple enough task and had practiced plenty.
"It's now or never."
"Then let's move."
Crew cut clicked the lock on his holster and slid out his gun, aiming it upwards at the sky. Holding it in both hands at his shoulder, he slid back the safety. He crept up towards that glass doors and surveyed the inside. It was empty, meaning the only employee was in the back.
Crew cut kicked open the door and slid in, his gun lowered, aiming in front of him. His partner crept in behind him, gun also raised. A bell overhead signaling their arrival.
"Come out, with your hands behind your head, this is the police!" Screamed crew cut. A young boy appeared from the back room, fingers laced behind his head. The boy looked to be in high school. a faint mustache growing on his lip. He walked awkwardly forward, head down as if he already knew why these two men were here. He walked past the front desk, not thinking to flip the emergency alarm switch.
To his simple mind, however, the switch would be of no use. It was to be used in case of a robbery, or the like. And it only functioned to call the police, which would be acutely doltish of him.
The younger cop slid passed the boy into the back room and could be heard typing away at a computer.
Crew cut bent the employee over a table and slid out a syringe from his pocket. He injected it into the employee's neck, and the boy was out in seconds.
The partner emerged from the back room and stopped at the cash register. The cash register hadn't been emptied for weeks, thus the drawers were jammed. It took a few tries, but it was eventually yanked open. The partner grabbed the cash and pocketed it.
The next matter of business was to steal the companies "e-cash". They had already acquired the necessary bank account information, and after a quick installation of a credit card reader, the duo made their way out.
They fled to the police cruiser and became one with the crowd...
