ACT IX | SCENE XLIII
❝CRACKED SCREENS❞
THE PHONE BOUNCED off the wall and landed on the bed with a soft thud. jimin didn't really care if it shattered. he was currently fuming, pacing the width of his bedroom in anger. he raked his fingers through his hair, muttering to himself.he felt mad for a lot of reasons. but most of all, he was mad at himself. he wanted to take back what he said. when she'd declined him because of hoseok, he had felt an inexplicable irritation. and as usual, he spoke without thinking.
he replayed his words in his head, wincing, he realised he may have overreacted and overstepped his boundaries. letting out a loud groan, he pulled on his hair. jangmi was right, his brain went on sleep mode when he was mad. what he didn't know was why he was so mad.
even though he'd been saying it out of anger, he did feel like jangmi felt hoseok was more important than he was. to her, hoseok obviously was. jimin's track record with her wasn't so great that she would think otherwise anyway. his problem wasn't how she felt about him; it was who she ranked more important in rosalie's life. and he was scared that jangmi's opinions may rub off on their daughter's young pliable mind, especially since she'd known hoseok longer.
he wasn't going to deny it. he was jealous of hoseok. he was jealous of the man who had been by jangmi's side all through the pregnancy and the first four years of his daughter's life instead of him. he was jealous because to jangmi, hoseok would always come first. and god forbid, if something were to happen to rosalie, that hoseok would find out about it before he did. somewhere in the back of his mind, he always felt like jangmi thought hoseok a better father figure than him.
his chest heaved as an unknown feeling rushed through him. his fingers swept through his hair as he stopped in his steps. his mind was clouding over and none of his thoughts were making any real sense anymore. everything was beginning to clash into each other, giving him a nasty headache. taking calming breaths, he counted to ten and sat on his king sized bed, the mattress dipping underneath his weight. his elbows resting on his knees, he leaned forward, burying his face in his hands.
he had to fix his mess. he was going to have to apologise to jangmi. and he wasn't very good at apologies. lifting his head, his tongue ran over his bottom lip, body twisting around to look at the phone that had fallen facedown onto the bed earlier. stretching his body out on the bed, he reached for it. his hand wrapped around it with a slight grunt leaving his lips.
sitting up again, he turned the phone around his hands. the glass screen was in ruins. several lightning like cracks threaded the entire screen, making it difficult to use the phone. he let a heavy sigh slip through his lips. this wouldn't be his first cracked screen. he was guilty of tossing his phone in anger a few times in the past, leaving him with quite a history of cracked screens. at least, this was the first one this year, and he had a feeling it wouldn't be his last.
"ugh!" he groaned, throwing his head to the side carelessly and landing sideways on the bed. he could barely see anything on the phone screen so how was he to call jangmi and apologise for what he did? he kicked his legs in the air in annoyance, aware that he had to go out and either get his phone repaired or buy a new one entirely. he preferred the latter, knowing the first option took too long and jimin heavily relied on his phone for a number of things and couldn't be without one for too long.
staring at the phone again, his lips pursed in thought. maybe it wasn't such a bad thing. he wasn't sure what he would say to jangmi when he called her back anyway, so a slight delay seemed welcome. he needed the time to gather his thoughts. and he didn't think she would answer his calls right now especially recalling her tone when she'd hung up on him.
slowly, he pushed himself upright, splaying his fingers through his hair in one smooth movement. "so annoying." he mumbled, getting on his feet and shoving the phone in the back pocket of his faded blue ripped jeans. he grabbed his coat, pulling it on as he reached for the door. calling jangmi would have to wait a couple of hours. "or maybe till tomorrow." he said under his breath as he walked out of the room, shutting the door behind him.
