Brooke woke up in the hospital, her stomach had been bandaged tightly. “Hey your awake,” the nurse smiled. Brooke looked around then gasped remembering the accident.
“Is everyone okay?” Brooke started at the nurse.
“Yeah you and a tall brown haired boy were the only ones with extreme injuries but you both will survive,”
“James? What happened to him!” Brooke yelled throwing the blanket aside and trying to stand. Her knees buckled taking her down but she grabbed the bed in time to catch herself.
“Woah calm down or you’ll rip your stitches!” The nurse yelled walking over and helping Brooke back into bed.
“Please can I go see James!” Brooke grabbed the nurses hand pleading.
“No not yet!” Brooke released the nurses hand.
“Is he okay at least?” The nurse turned towards the door.
“No one can be sure until he wakes up,” she answered quietly. Brooke gasped, her eyes began to water. She put her hands over her mouth erupting into sobs. She threw off her blankets and tried again to get out off bed. She began falling but grabbed the dresser and used it to push off towards the window. She collapsed onto the chair in front of the window. “Please be okay James,” she plead quietly out the window. With a sign she staggered back over to the bed and laid down.
James rolls over on the bed and opens his eyes slightly. “A hospital?” He asks to no one.
“You were in a bus accident remember?” A nurse asks walking over.
“Oh right that drunk semi driver, is everyone okay?”
“Yeah, everyone is awake and fine,” the nurse smiles.
“That’s good,” James says turning onto his back. The nurse left and a doctor entered.
“So how are you feeling?” The doctor asked picking up a clipboard.
“Fine, just a little groggy,” the doctor nodded and picked up a syringe containing a clear liquid. “What’s that?” James sat up.
"Nothing of importance,” the doctor smirked, James tried to get up but was pushed back down by the doctor who leaned down and got in his face. “Ah ah ah, wouldn’t want to pull out your stiches. Unless, their healed already?” The doctors eyes flash green as he laughed. James eyes grew wide. “So have you told that girl in the other room what you are yet, or what she is? Maybe I should visit and tell her,”
“Don’t touch her!” James warned through gritted teeth.
“I won’t need to touch her she’ll gladly come with me,” the doctors hand glowed green as he waves it slowly in front of James. He turned and exited the room. James looked around, the room had started to spin, grabbing the I.V.  he stood up ripped it out then grabbing a chair for stability. With hushed swears he made it to the door turning down the hall. A scream could be heard from Brooke’s room, he looked up wide eyed and began stumbling down then hall. He turned and look into her room, the doctor was towering over Brooke with bright green wings.
“Just give up already!” He ordered in a whisper moving closer to Brooke. She kicked at him pushing him back slightly.
“Leave her alone !” James yelled stepping forward then falling to his knees.
“Well look who joined the party, just wanted to watch your girlfriend seal her fate?” The doctor chuckled and grabbed Brooke’s arm, dodging her legs as she aimed at his face. The bright green wings shifted color for a second, but James was to busy to see.
“Let her go!” James yelled again lifting himself slightly off the ground. His eyes flashed a weak blue then dissipated. “What did you do!” The doctor just laughed and turned back towards Brooke, his wings shattered into tiny green shards that cut Brooke’s face.
“You’ve got to be kidding me!” he whispered as the green shards disappeared. Officers ran into the room pointing guns at the doctor.
“Back away from the girl!” An officer yelled jerking the gun forward for emphasis. The doctor stepped back allowing Brooke to run away.
“What happened kid?” Another officer asked walking over to James.
“That doctor came into my room and told me he had some grudge with my parents and was planning on killing me and anyone I knew so he drugged me and ran in here,” James said the first story that came to mind. The officer seemed to have bought it and walked over to Brooke examining her cuts. Another officer walked over and cuffed the doctor escorting him out.
“Call in a nurse or something!” The officer walked over to James. “Who is she?” The officer asked.
“Her names Brooke and she’s my girlfriend,” James said.
“Okay, Brooke seems fine. Just has a few scratches on her face and arms.” The officer turned and looked around two nurses ran in gasping when they noticed Brooke. She wasn’t like that when they left. The officer stood up and watched the door for anymore visitors.
“I’m sorry Brooke!” James whispered, another nurse ran in holding a syringe of milky liquid.
“Here, this is for the drug that fake doctor gave you.”
“Thank you,” James said with a smile. The nurse nodded and left after injecting him. The nurses finished cleaning her cuts, some were much deeper than others. Once they were satisfied they left.
“James! I was so scared!” Brooke yelled hugging James tightly.
“What did he want?” James asked.
“He wanted me to come with him, be ‘his’. He told me we were more powerful together. I told him I didn’t want to be his anything, or anyone’s so he cornered me. Then sprouted those huge wings,” she rubbed the bandaged cuts lightly. James grabbed her hand.
“You me and him are, angels. Our eyes glow and we have powers.” Brooke’s eyes grew wide.
“You can’t be serious,” she said scooting back, but didn’t pull her hand away.
“I am I can show you, remember the bus crash? Your stiches should almost be healed and it just happened yesterday,” she lifted up her gown and looked, her stomach was nearly healed.
“Why didn’t anyone tell me!” Brooke yelled letting go off the gown.
“To protect you,” James looked up at her hoping to meet her eyes but she turned away.
“Show me your eyes,” she turned to face him again. “What color do they glow?” He flashed them, she gasped the smiled.
“What?” He asked, his eyes returned to their normal green and copper color.
“Nothing,” she smirked, her eyes flashed but one green. James jumped back.
“No! What do you want?” Her eyes returned.
“I wasn’t lying earlier, I was asked to be his,” she stood up. “I just might have said yes,”
“You didn’t say yes, its his power. Brooke just stop for a second and think about what happened when he came in here. If you said yes why would you have gotten hurt?” She stopped and stared at him.
“I said yes? I said yes and you can’t tell me other wise!” She slammed him against the wall.
“Think about it Brooke,” she stepped back. The event flashed in front of her.
“No, I said no! Never!”
“Is that right?” The doctor asked and walked towards her.
“I said no,” she said quietly. James smiled and stepped forward.
“See?” She looked up at him.
“What did he do to me?” James looked confused. She fell to her knees, green veins began crawling from her wounds. Like an infection.
“He’s trying to take control, I’ll have to push him out,” his hand glowed blue as he held it above her injuries. The veins began to shrink.
“Hold it there boy,” the doctor stood in the doorway covering blood and holding the officers gun. James put his hands up glaring at the man. Brooke fell onto her back the veins growing again.
“Why are you doing this?” James growled.
“Same reason I did it to you years ago. I want to cleanse our world, with you two gone that will be so much easier” the doctor stepped forward placing his gun on James’ forehead. “Good thing your both weak now,”
“Who are you calling weak?” Brooke asked sitting up against the wall. She lifted up her hand, it began to glow violet. The green veins snaked up her arm turning the violet a muddy forest green.
“Nice try darling,” the doctor laughed but stopped when she had begun the laugh as well. She looked up at him her eyes glowing green. “What the hell? You can’t be controlling my powers!” She stood and lifted up her hand again. He staggered backwards, the gun hand shaking.
“Brooke!” James yelled standing up. “What are you doing?”
“Erasing this man,” she said plainly slowly closing her fist. He fought against her, trying to keep the gun down.
“Stop, angels can’t kill angels. His mind will just be transferred into your body, he’ll gain control eventually,” James grabbed her shoulder. She turned to face him opening her mouth to speak but not able to come up with a retort. She dropped her hand and stepped backwards.
“Leave before I change my mind,” the doctor scampered out the door.
“What was that Brooke!” James yelled.
“Not sure,” she looked down at her hands the green veins were disappearing. James grabbed her hands.
“Show me your eyes,” he commanded scared. She flashed her eyes, they were both back to violet. He sighed. “It was probably just the green angels magic making you try and kill him, it wanted you to wield it,”
“Our magic has its own mind?”
“Well in a sense yes, it chooses a new vessel when the one its in beings to die or go crazy,”
“So were just vessels?”
“Well its kind of a partnership the magic needs a wielder and in return the wielder is granted immortality,”
“So when did we get chosen?” Brooke sat down looking at her hand making it glow.
“When we were kids most likely, since neither on of us has any recollection of gaining these powers.” Brooke stood up and began walking down the hall. “Where are you going?”
“I just want to be alone for a second,” she began running through the doors opening violet wings.
“Come back!” James yelled running through the doors opening his wings. Brooke sped upward her hair escaping it’s ponytail flying free. James flapped his giant, stained glass looking wings causing him to fly up faster. “Brooke stop!” She turned and smiled at him the began to fall head first towards the ground. James sped towards her trying to catch her but last second she flew up, the ground beneath her slightly disturbed.
“This is amazing!” She screamed giggling. James gave her a confused look then smiled and flew past twirling. “I love flying!” She sped around the sky breathing in the cool air.
