Paper Hearts

We had just the summer before you went back to school,

Everything was before us,

No limits no rules

A hipster gal and her sweet summertime fling,

Your back was to me as I listened to you sing,

The sweet melody of two youths in love,

hearts flew with the notes like a paper dove,

And how to justify

This love of mine?

We were like paper hearts,

Fluttering together only to fall to the ground apart

We were like paper hearts

In the warm wind

Exchanging kisses like a secret sin
