Jake and I sat in the movie next to Jenni and Hunter, not really paying attention to the movie we played 9 dollors to see. This happened almost every time we went to the movies together with them. They just sit there and make out and jake and I make fun of them for it. And almost everytime we walk out of the movie, Jenni and Hunter ask us, ' what was so funny?'
We had gone to see a movie because it was officialy summer and we had nothing better to do. The whole day we had spent packing. This summer, Jake's family had invited me out to the lake for the whole summer. On memorial day we were set to leave.
Jake and I were really excited because the most days we've gone straight together were a week at camp last summer.
Memorial day came and it took two hours to get out to the lake. I slept on Jake's shoulder the majority of the way. The other half we spent talking about what we were going to do.
Then we got there we were all set to grab our rooms. My room was across the hall from Sarah, Jake's sister, one of my closest friends.
That night we were set to go to a clam bake. Sarah and I each threw on a nice shirt and a pair of denim shorts and made our way to Jake's room.
"Hey." He smiled, kissing me just before Sarah walked in.
"So do you have your board?" Sarah asked, holding up hers.
"yeah" he said nodding to his in the corner. He grabbed it and we headed downstairs. We all got in the car and headed to the country club. Everyone scattered. Leaving, me , sarah, Jake, and their little brother Mike. We went out t the front and they started skateboarding.
At one point, their old friend Elliot came by on his skateboard.
" Jake Baker? Elliot Murtaugh." He said, slapping jake's hand.
" No way. It;s Elliot. I havent seen you since 2010." Jake said.
They skated around a little more. Sarah seemed to have taken a liking to Elliot. Jake had a stupid idea of having me ride on his skateboard.
I went way to fast, fell off and scrapped my knees all over. i was laughing so hard when Jake ran over to me." Oh my gosh Lauren, are you okay?" Jake asked as I still laughed.
"I'm fine." I said calming down a little bit. " But I think I need some bandaides." I said finally looking at my knees. There was more blood than I thought.
Jake helped me to the first aid kit in the lobby, bandaging me up. Then we went and got food.
By the time this thing was over Jake's little brother Mark had set off some fireworks and we actually had to go back to the cabin early. Jake, Sarah, Mike and I sat in Jake's room, going over the night and watching a movie.
I sat next to Jake on the bad, Sarah on the chair in the corner and Mike, on the floor, eyes glued to the t.v.
"Sarah do you like Elliot?" I was surprised to hear Jake saying this and not me.
"What? Why would you, why would you think that?" Sarah asked.
" Because you turn bright red every time you're around him or someone's talking about him. It was the same last summer as it is right now." He said, and it was true. Sarah's face was bright red.
"Jake. I hate you." She said turning serious now.
" Jake lay off her." I said checking my phone for any new messages> Nothing, not even Tumblr.
"Okay okay fine. " He said leaning back. Kate, Jake's mom, came in and got Mike. Sarah left shortly after, so it was just Jake and I.
" So what do you wanna do?" Jake asked tracing my back as he laid down behind me.
"I don't know. We could watch another movie." I said. But to be honest it was around 1:00 and I didn't really want to watch another movie.
"Okay." Jake said anyways. He got up and put in a horror movie that he knew I like and came and lied down next to me.
The next think I knew , it was morning. I sat up to my uneasiness thinking I had stayed in Jake's room all night. But I was in my room. Either I don't remember coming back or Jake half asleep walked me back to my room.
I got up and showered, did my hair and my make up and got dressed. I decide to wear my navy blue floral tank top and my white shorts.
I went downstairs and we started breakfast.
That afternoon, we all went over to the Murtaughs for lunch and the kids were going to stay over to go on a boat ride around the lake.
Jake and I were seated at the table together. His older brother Charlie on my other side. As the grown ups talked, we all talked about what we could do for the rest of the day, after the boat ride.
"We could walk back onto town and go to the arcade." Nigel and Kyle said together. Rejected.
"We could go on a nature hike!" Mark shouted over everyone.
"I'll do that." I said. still rejected.
"This will never work. We all like different things." Sarah said over everyone else.
"Yeah, Sarah's right. Unless we all split up into groups. Or partners." Charlie said and I could tell he was looking at Annie.
So It was decided. Jake and I, Charlie and Annie, Mark and Andrew, Mike and Henry, the twins together, Sarah and Elliot, Lorianne and Danny, Nora and Bud.
Jake and I decided to go swimming. Either by the dock or at the counrty club pool. Jake had decided the pool. " Jake, I'm pretty sure you need a member ship to get in there."
"Oh , Okay.Then the lake it is then." He said smiling. He took my hand and lead me down to a little dock thing hid by a bunch of trees.
"Sarah, Elliot, Mike and I found this place one time when we were on the jet skies."
"And you don't think Elliot ad Sarah will wanna come back here?" I said stripping into my bikini.
"No. I asked Sarah if she remembered and she said she had no idea what i was talking about."
"And Elliot?"
Jake's face fell." Maybe I should have talked to him."
I laughed. "Yeah. Probably. But until then. It's just us." I smiled and Jake wrapped his arms around my waist and leaned us up against the post by the dock.
Jake took a shot at it first and kissed me, tangling his fingers in my hair. Moments later the post gave way and we fell into the water.
The water was deeper than I had thought. Jake's arms were still around me when we came up. "Are you okay?" He asked giving me a questioning look.
"Yeah, I'm fine. You?"
"Yeah." He said. He smiled and kissed me again before we climbed back onto the dock. We let our feet hang in the water, and just talked for a while.
