She's changed.
She's a different person now.
She's not my best friend. It all changed the night her parents split up, the night she dragged that blade over her wrist.
My best friend was funny, she had a sense of humour, and she was always there for me.
I look to my left, where Annie is awkwardly standing around a group of people. It wouldn't be too bad if they hadn't excluded her on purpose, or if she hadn't been looking so damn awkward.
She stands on one leg, popping the other one out to the side, and her hands are on her hips. I glare at her across, from next to my newer friend, Emma.
"I hate her." I tell Emma, "I don't even know her anymore."
Emma just rubs my back, "It's okay, I hate her too."
So much has changed since grade six, I don't know whether it was her parents ugly divorce that changed her. But ever since the start of year nine, we had drifted apart, and at first I was sad. But now, I'm mad, and I don't want to be her friend.
Annie turns around from her group of friends, and looks at me, and shoots a small smile. I glare at her in return, she can't come crawling back to me.
It's not my fault I couldn't handle her problems, when she first told me that she was depressed I ran. She doesn't exactly know that's why I left, but I don't wanna be friends with someone like that. But it's not like I've told anyone, well, other than Emma.
Annie leaves the group of girls, and they all look glad that she's stopped hanging around like a parasite. Instead, she comes over to us.
Emma and I share an annoyed look.
Annie sits next to me,
"So Emily, I was wondering if you wanted to have a sleepover this weekend?"
"Oh sorry Annie, I think I'm busy.." I lie,
"No you're not, my mum already asked yours. I'm coming over to your house on Friday night."
"Oh, okay..."
"See ya!" She waves at me and walks off.
Damn, I had plans. I had plans to sit on my couch and watch Netflix! They were very important plans.
Emma scowls at Annie as she walks off, "I hate that girl."
"Me too." I agree, "Me too..."

I sit in my room alone in the darkness, my face lights up as I flick up my Fitbit to check the time.
She'll be here any minute.
I flop back onto my bed and sigh, how am I going to get through this? I've been avoiding her for months now, and now I'm being forced to stay with her for the night.
I hear a knock from the door, and I hear mum get up and welcome Annie in. I open my phone and send a message to Emma
SOS
She comes walking into my bedroom.
Fantastic.
Fan-freaking-tastic.
