Dear Lin,
Hi. It's Naomi White again. How are you? I wrote you once before but you never answered. I guess I get it. But I really want you to read this at least.
My parents died two days ago. They overdosed on drugs. Heroine and cocaine. I'm only seven. I shouldn't know about that stuff.
I only want someone to know what I'm going through. Not that you care. But the care providers, ones name is Darla. She hits me. A lot. She makes fun of all the kids. It really hurts my feelings. I don't know about the other kids. Do you even care?
Anyway, I'm a huge fan of yours. In The Heights made me laugh, cry and want to hug you. My mom used to say that if I worked hard enough, maybe one day I'd be able to be on stage with you. She gave me singing lessons. She was a music teacher. I miss her. My dad was a lawyer. I miss him too.
One day, my dad brought home a snake. It wasn't poisonous, so it was okay. We named him Bob. He was really cool. I brought him to school on pet day and my teacher fainted. Let's just say, I never brought Bob again.
What else can I put?
Bob was cool, but so were Biscuit and Butter. They were both brought to the animal shelter. I miss them.
Mr Miranda, could you find it in your heart to meet a foster kid? It's my one and only wish. If I can't have my pets, I'd like to meet you.
Also, if you don't mind, tell Vanessa I say hi.
From,
Naomi White
