Night came faster than I imagined it would.
Within what seemed like minutes, the sky was a deepening shade of indigo. Stars peeked through the curtain of darkness, illuminating the sky like a thousand little eyes, watching us carefully from above.
I sat down on a bench. My legs were aching from standing for about eight hours straight, so I was pleased with how good it felt to actually sit down.
Sock sat next to me and put his head on my shoulder. I resisted the urge to make a some Hallmark-level cheesy comment on how adorable he was, and I almost didn't fail. Almost.
Once said comment was made, he giggled and wrapped his arms around me.
Somewhere, I heard someone say, "Awwwe," quite loudly, as if they wanted me to hear. I looked up, but I couldn't locate who it had been. Kind of against the point, if you ask me.
Whatever.
"Yo, it's like, 9:00. When are you supposed to be home?" I asked, looking down at Sock.
"M' parents aren't expecting me," he mumbled into my chest.
"Hmm. Neither are mine," I said, trying to sound thoughtful.
"What are you suggesting?"
"Oh, you know, the walk home is gonna be like walking through the armpits of hell," I explained.
"Uh-huh."
"So, should we, like, stay for the fireworks, and then camp out in the woods?"
"Yeah." Then Sock looked up at me and grinned. "As long as I can use you as a pillow."
"Oh, whatever," I said. But I was grinning, too.

We actually decided to go on one more ride.
It wad called the Windseeker. Unlike the name suggests, it wasn't a very fast-paced ride. Instead, it was slow moving, but went up high.
Basically, the Windseeker looks like the fair rides you see - you know, the ones with swings that spins you in circles for a couple minutes. Except about 301 feet tall.
Literally.
We got on, side by side, and strapped ourselves into the little seats. It was very similarly designed to the popular ones, with just a simple bar that pulled across my waist. The only difference was the part that actually connected us to the ride; they were two metal bars, not chains.
Within moments of us getting on, the ride started.
Seconds later, we were at the top, and we could see everything.
The land was speckled with lights. The roars of roller coasters seemed far away now; they were just soft growls, whispers on the wind.
Then there was a loud pheeew! and a small dot of light rose into the sky.
I watched it with curiously, wondering at first what it was. Why would someone launch something like that into the air?
Then, with a deafening bang, the dot exploded into a beautiful circle of color.
A multitude of whoops joined the sounds around us, and I smiled.
The shouts were cut off by another two fireworks. One of them was a sparkly gold, and it crackled as it split to pieces a that fell toward the ground like falling stars.

Hey humans!
This chapter is fluffy. I felt like we needed a little bit of that after the previous mostly un-fluffy ones.
Anyways, the new story is out, (whoever read the A/N a couple days ago will understand) and it's titled Spliced.
Also, for some reason, I've posted a chapter a day for three days now, I think.
