Amara finally finished unpacking what she had left. A lot of the things were burnt. She sat down on the floor, feelings scaring her heart.
The door creaked open. "Can I come in?" She couldn't make out who it was by voice yet. "Mhm." Amara mumbled back. The door fully opened and there stood Corbyn.
"Hi, I just wanted to get to know you a little better." He explained. Amara smiled at this. Corbyn was sweet, he was the first one to come and hang out with her.
Amara patted the spot next to her. Corbyn came in and sat down in front of her. "So, your name's, Amanda?" He asked. Amara giggled before skating her head. "Amara." She corrected.
"Oh. Sorry." He apologized. "And your Corbyn?" Amara asked, she was confident that was his name. He nodded. "At least you got my name." He said with a smile. "I swear that I'll get your name without having to ask." He said as he held his pinky out.
Amara laughed but hooked her pinky with his. They both let go and everything went silent. Until...
Singing, a beautiful voice coming from down the hallway from one of the open rooms. Corbyn leaned back and yelled out the door.
"Shut up Zach!" He said before turning his attention back to Amara. "That was Zach?" She asked, not exactly believing such a young boy could sing as such.
"Yeah, we all have a talent for singing here." He explained. Amara's eyes widened. Singing had always been something her sister did. She would sing Amara songs as a young child.
"My sister used to sing." She mumbled, loud enough for Corbyn to hear. "That's pretty nice." He said, probably feeling bad for the girl even though he didn't know what happened.
"Maybe I could get the boys and we can sing you something?" He suggested. Amara nodded, hoping to hear a nice voice singing in her ears.
They both stood up and Corbyn sat her on the couch. "Stay here, I'll be right back." He said before taking off down the hallway.
Corbyn went into everyone's room before finally reaching Jack's. "Jack?" He said as peeked around into his room.
He had his headset on and was playing a few games. Jack had always been stubborn and hated when someone brought another person into the house. It's even worse since she's gonna be living with them.
"Jack." Corbyn said again. "What?" He said in an annoyed tone. "Come on, we're gonna sing Amara something." He explained. Jack didn't take his eyes off the game once.
"I ain't singing for some stranger." He said as his thumbs worked magic. "Jack, she's gonna be living with us. Shes not gonna be a stranger in like a week." Corbyn said as he came closer to Jack.
"Why should I care?" He responded. He really did not want the random girl living in the house. "Don't you wanna be famous? Your gonna be performing for strangers anyway." He explained.
"She barely knows who I am." He argued back. "Jack." Corbyn growled. "Get the hell out of my room, Corbyn." Jack said annoyed, his eyes still focused on his game.
Corbyn groaned before turning around and leaving. Rule number 3: always give your brothers space.
Corbyn returned to the boys who were already singing to Amara. Corbyn sat next to them and joined in.
Jack will learn.
