"The problem is, you think you have time..."

Today is the 16th anniversary of 9-11. A day of painful memories and gloomy, cold weather. It's like mother nature sets the mood of the weather to match the moods of those who lost their lives. Pictures, videos, and text are posted showing details of this tragic day.

I myself was only a little girl when 9-11 took place. I do not have any personal experience or memories to go along either. But I can feel the sorrow and longing of the people around the world.

Death is a hard fact to face. It is always there and while it may not affect you directly, it watches you. Waiting to take your life when the time is right. Could you ever think of a right time to die? You could be driving down the street one day and die in a drunken car crash and people would say "I can't believe they died that way. Such a tragedy." , but what if it wasn't a bad way to die. What if there was a reason we all die the way we do? But how can we ever know for sure because do we really know the people around us? No. They may act a certain way and do certain things, but is that really them? No one will ever know and we have to realize that.

Today is also the day of my friend Jackie's fathers' death. A day filled with such sorrow and unimaginable pain. Death is not your friend and it is not your enemy. It allows us to move on from the earth into an unknown place of maybe Heaven or maybe darkness. We imagine the act of death as something that follows us around like a ghost. It doesn't follow you and it doesn't care for you. There is no special way to get out of death. No one has ever cheated death because it is natural for all living things to die.

So many people say they fear death, but death is just a verb. What they are really afraid of is what comes after death. You are not sent to heaven or hell because you die, you are sent wherever you go because of the person you were/are.

The living souls that we interact with are set to end, just like our own. We do not know when or how, but we are aware that at any time we may end. What I have noticed is that no one cares. Who actually thinks that at any second they could die? You or I could die in our sleep tonight, or wake up in the morning and slip and fall, hitting our head in the shower. That could be it, just like that. Bye bye world.
