Me, you and Our Music

There was a student who came down from the jeep where he rides in. He was standing at the terminal, waiting for the right time to cross the street. Later on, he walks fast toward the school where he's studying. Few minutes later, he reached the gate of the school and immediately entered but he didn't notice that there is a beautiful young lady, who's also a student there, walking ahead of him. Because of hurrying, he bumped onto her and it made a strong impact to the girl, causing for her to fall down to the ground. However, before she reached the ground, the man immediately caught her balance. He apologized at her and helped her pick up her things. While entering the school together, they started introducing themselves. Kelly Santos and Reed Martinez are their names. Kelly is sixteen years old while Reed is seventeen. Later on, they parted ways, going to their respective classrooms.

Their classes were through and Reed went to the music room to practice playing piano. Unbeknownst to Reed, Kelly followed him. He entered the music room and sat down to the piano and started playing Johann Pachelbel's Canon in D Major. While playing the piece, he noticed that someone is playing the melody through violin. On the other side, Kelly is hiding herself in the darkness and playing the piece together with Reed. Reed continued playing until the end of the piece. He wanted to know who played the violin so he immediately got out of the room. He noticed a figure of a girl but it quickly disappeared on his sight. He's disappointed, but he is not going to give up. He's going to find out that mysterious musician. That next day he went to the music room and played the same piece and again, someone played the violin, but same thing happened. On his third attempt, he finally knew who the violinist was. He was shocked and at the same time surprised. He asked Kelly why she was hiding her talent. Kelly responded that because she thinks that she's not good and she doesn't have the confidence to play with others. Reed told her that it's very nice. He liked her skill in playing the violin, and he thinks, he's starting to fall in love with her. From then, they started playing together at the music room.

There was an instrumental duo contest to be held at the school and Reed told Kelly that she should join and be a representative of the school. She told him that she was not used to joining competitions, but Reed really convinced her. He even told her that he's her partner. Kelly is hesitant at first, but because of Reed she joined the contest. They didn't win the competition, but it did not made them to stop. It made them more motivated to practice instead.

One year had pass and the two are into a relationship. They were going to the canteen when suddenly Reed was having difficulty in breathing. He felt his chest tighten, later on he collapsed on the ground. Kelly panicked, she don't know what to do. She asked help from the people and they brought him at the clinic. Meanwhile, Reed regained his consciousness. Kelly asked if he's okay and Reed just nod to her direction. Reed immediately confessed to Kelly that he has a heart disease. Mixed emotions fill her. Anger for not telling the truth. Pity and sad for forcing to be happy when he's with her. Despite of his condition, but he chose to smile and live life. And most of all, afraid because anytime from now she would lose him. Kelly have always prayed to God not to take him yet, and that He would heal him. They still have a dreams to fulfill and she wanted to be with him for a longer time.

Few months later, Reed's condition worsened. While on her class, Reed's best friend John called Kelly to go to the hospital immediately. Kelly asks permission to her professor to leave the class because of emergency. Kelly rush to the hospital and there she found the whole family of Reed, crying. She found out that anytime soon, he would leave her and his family. Reed opened his eyes and saw Kelly beside him. He smiled weakly at her and uttered a few heartbreaking words to the people around him, especially Kelly.

'I'm sorry I need to leave you... I can't stay here forever. Please... don't forget that..... I love.... You...'

Kelly burst into tears as Reed closed his eyes. Everything went silent as his heart monitor stopped beating. Kelly weakly smiled as she moved his hair away from his eyes. She can't cry because she knew that Reed wouldn't want her to. She knew that he wanted her to be happy.

She lost her friend and lover. But she will never forget him because she knew that he is watching over her, and will love her for eternity. And she returned his feelings.

Few years later, Kelly finished college and became a music teacher. It gave her joy knowing that kids wanted to learn about music. She hasn't played any song with anyone because she promised Reed that they will play music with each other. It gave her the feelings of nostalgia when she sees her students playing the violin and piano by pair. It gives her nostalgia because she remembers all of her memories with Reed.

But she believes that someday, somewhere they will meet again and together they will play their music.
