APRIL
THURSDAYMaiko's POV:
Rain poured down from the sky and another school day came to an end. As all the other students left for home only four students stayed. Inside a dark classroom the four girls gathered around one of the table desks, that hold up to six people, and sat in a circle. Their only light source were their flashlights. Their names are Michiru, Keiko, Mai, and yours truly. I am Maiko, Mai's older sister. We are a year apart but since we have the same birthday everyone considers us as twins, mostly because we look similar. The only thing was our hair.
Mai is petite with fair colored skin, short, almost boyish, brunette hair, light chocolate eyes, and a small nose and mouth. I am also petite with fair colored skin, silver-ish hair that fall just below my shoulders, light chocolate eyes, and small nose and mouth. Keiko has dark brown, almost shadow black, hair pulled up into straight pigtails, light fair colored skin, dark brown eyes, a small sharp nose, and a small mouth. Michiru is slightly taller than all of us with ivory pale skin, black hair that goes halfway down her back, dark, almost black eyes, a round nose, and small slightly thin mouth.
Anyway, we are currently telling ghost stories. But we'll get to that later. Right now it's Mai's turn. "...Then the woman lead the policemen down the dark hallway to the public bathroom in the back. Once there, the policemen told the woman to go back inside and wait to see if she can hear the voice again, and she did just as she was told. 'Do you want me to cover you with a red coat?' the voice said. She answered. 'Yes.' and then....*SCREAM*" Mai says causing Keiko and Micheru to gasp in fear. "The policemen burst through the door and find the woman totally covered in blood as if she had a red blanket draped over her." When Mai ends her story Michiru and Keiko are trembling.
I look towards Mai mentally high fiveing her for another successful job of scaring our friends. "Mai you know we hate it when you use that creepy voice!" Michiru says obviously scared. Mai smirked at them cowering in fear. That was like any other day for us. Staying late after school telling ghost stories. Everytime one of us finishes a story we turn off our flashlight and when there's just one left that means another person is in the room... "You're the last one Michiru!" Mai says. The other person is supposedly a ghost. At the beginning I thought it was a little childish. But now I have a feeling that there's more than meets the eye.
"Okay this one is about the old schoolhouse..." "Do you mean the creepy old building that's collapsing down the street?" Keiko says interrupting Michiru. Michiru nods. "But it's not collapsing. It was being demolished when the workers suddenly quit because of a curse. Lots of people have died in that old schoolhouse over the years. Most famously a teacher who committed suicide. So when they decided to build a new school they started tearing down the old one. But then, the ceiling made a creaking noise and one and the workers looked up. As soon as he did the ceiling collapsed. The demolition ended that day.
Last year they started the demolition again to make way for a new gymnasium. But a truck driving by lost control and crashed into a group of kids walking outside, killing some students." Mai, Keiko, and myself gasp. "But there's more. I heard this from an upper classmate. One night a student was walking home from school and passed by the schoolhouse. She stopped and looked up at it she saw a glowing white figure appear looking through the window on the second floor. It disappeared just as quickly as it appeared. Mai gasped leaning back in her chair in fear. Michiru switched off her flashlight signalling the end of her story.
The room is completely dark now. After a moment everyone's eyes adjusted to the darkness and it was time. At the end before we go home each of us count from one to four. And if someone, other than us, says five it proves that a spirit is with us.
Michiru: "Here goes.... One."
Keiko: "Two."
Mai: "Three."
Maiko: "Four."
???: "Five."
Everyone freaks out, except for me, when an unknown male voice says five thinking it was a ghost. A moment later the lights switch on and everyone stops freaking out, and turns to face the door. A tall, good-looking guy stands there watching us. He had raven black hair, pale white skin, deep Indigo eyes, and was dressed in all black. "Oh... Please tell me that was you just now." Keiko said. "Am I interrupting something?" asked the mystery boy. Everyone slumped in their chairs having calmed down almost instantly.
However, I was suspicious of him. 'Nobody should be here at this time except us and possibly a few school staff. And I have never seen him around school before.' I thought. "I thought for sure it was a ghost." said Keiko. "Sorry. I didn't expect someone else would be here. But then I heard you voices and I couldn't help myself." The boy walks a little further in the classroom. As you probably know already I don't talk much. I only talk when I need or want to. My suspicion of Mr. Mysterious only grows. 'He is obviously trying to charm us. And Keiko and Micheru are falling for it like a couple of idiotic groupies.' Michiru and Keiko run over to him giggling and bombard him with questions. It makes me wonder how I'm friends with them. "Oh, no!" "It's totally fine!" Michiru and Keiko said respectively. "So what year are you?" asked Michiru "I'm seventeen this year." said mystery boy. 'Normally someone would say they were a senior.' Mai thought.
You're probably wondering how I know that. Well truth be told I can read peoples thoughts, memories, basically their minds altogether. But I choose not to. Mai keeps telling me that I shouldn't use it on others, so I use it on her instead. She doesn't know it, but it helps me keep an eye on her. Especially, since I am a year older and, there for, in a different year than Mai and the others. I guess you can say I am a little over protective of my sister. Sometimes we communicate through our thoughts as well, whether we are together or not.
"So we were just telling ghost stories." Michiru says. "I see. Well maybe next time I can join you?" says mystery boy. "Wow! Really!? You mean you like telling ghost stories too!?" Keiko asks. Mystery boy says "Yeah." 'Ugh. Their giggling like idiots again.' I think to myself. "You sound like a really cool guy. What's your name?" Michiru asks. Mai and I get up and got a little closer to them. "My name is Kazuya Shibuya." 'His eyes....their not smiling.' Mai thinks to herself. "Okay Kazuya, I just have one question. Why are you here?" asks Mai. I look to my sister seeing that she's just as suspicious about him as me. Then the boy calling himself Kazuya says "There are some things I need to do."
'Keiko and Micheru are giggling and following him like a couple of groupies.' Mai thinks. *GIGGLE* "Do you need our help with anything?" Keiko asks. Mai and I look at our friends and say at the same time "Oh, man."
"No. But I would love to join you next time you tell ghost stories." Kazuya says. "Of course! You're welcome anytime!" "Yeah! What about tomorrow? After school?" "Okay. But where?" "Right here!" Keiko says A little too overjoyed. 'Something's fishy about him. We better get to the bottom of this Maiko.' I nod to my sister. 'You know I'm in.
