Rehab Chapter Three

Confusion

The click was followed by a shadow, and then later a figure. I did not recognize his face. I came to the conclusion he was a doctor. I started to take in my surroundings a little bit closer and in more detail. There were cards and balloons ad teddy bears and flowers. From the ones dearest and closest to my heart, all the way to strangers. Every single item was at least one person I hurt. Not just myself. The doctor now began to speak. I listened and smiled. "Hello Madison!" Ugh. My full name. "We are glad to see you have awoken from your coma." He paused to let it sink in. Wait. A coma? For how long? He chipped in just in time as if he read my mind "4 days, you are lucky to have no brain damage. I suggest that since you are awake we call in your family. Would you like that?" I nodded. He gave a perky smile and left the room. My family had been out there waiting, if I ever would, to come out of a coma. I rubbed my temple as it ached from thought. They were out there fighting for my life more than I would. I underestimated them. I let out a frustrated sigh. Uncontested with my battling thoughts. So moment mad I did this, the other equally as upset it didn't work. It was giving me a migraine. I pushed the little button on the side of the bed to hear footsteps immediately coming down the corridor. Man, they take things seriously here. "Hi. Um. Can I have a glass of water and a Tylenol please?" Instead of a response as eager as her room arrival, I received a hesitance to respond and a glare in return. "I can't do that..." She said looking at what must be my patient record. I almost started to ask why and then it hit me. I got here from abusing drugs so now they can't give them to me. E
