Rehab chapter four

Confrontation

Just as the nurse was about to explain, the re arrival of the doctor and my family saved her from the hassle to do so. "The kid said she wants painkillers" the nurse said with almost a cruel joking edge to it as she said to the doctor exiting the room while shoving the clipboard into his chest. For the first time in what seemed like a lifetime. I saw my family. It wasn't how I saw them last. They looked stressed and tired, and like they hadn't stopped crying since the second I thought I left. My mother had on her glasses which meant she couldn't stop crying enough to keep her contacts in, and Greg just stood there massaging her shoulders. Little Mackenzie was the only one who bothered to still even look in my direction. But no one bothered to make eye contact. "I...I....will let you guys have some time to talk things out" the doctor said and left the room. And this time it was me against three. A battle I couldn't fight.

My mom took the seat next to the bed but still made sure to keep her eyes off of me as if I was some kind of disgrace. Greg stood behind her and Kenzie remained on the other side of the room. My mom let out a sigh. "I honestly don't know what to say to you" she finally managed to utter out before collapsing into a ball of tears. This was going to be a difficult conversation. But I created it. And I was going to have a whole heck of alot of explaining to do. "I can explain...." I began.
