Where do the sparrows go

Where do the sparrows go
When winter's branches are caked with snow
Are they hypnotized by the falling flakes
Captured in an icy embrace

When does the grasshopper chirp
The clear note bringing birth
Of sprouts and eggs and butterflies
While the arctic hold slowly dies

When does the tulip bloom
Spreading out its petallic boon
Seeds falling into the earthen urn
To give new life next season's turn

How do the fruits ripen
Under the sun's bright enlighten
And they jump into the casket
Of smaller life's food basket

How do the leaves fall
Leaving the tree's living all
To wither upon the ground below
As frost covers up all that they know

Where do the sparrows go
When winter's branches are caked with snow
Are they hypnotized by the falling flakes
Captured in an icy embrace?
