The man sighed as his curl bobbed in front of his face. The Canadian gazed across the meeting hall with a bored expression. " Any ideas are welcome!" His loud, American brother announced.

Yes, his brother. His opposite. Loud, spontaneous, confident. All the things he wasn't. He raised his hand, an idea for the subject popping into is brain.

The American's baby blue eyes jumped right over him, as if not noticing him at all. A pain spiked in Matthew's heart. Seeing his brother skip him like that. He knew it was his curse, not his brother. It happened too often.

Too often.

The Ukrainian woman sat across from Matthew. She had gotten the times mixed up and had to run there as a result. She was panting in her seat next to Belarus and Russia, who was avoiding his little sister like the plague.

" Big brother~" She hissed, ignoring the meeting. The sister seated between the two squeaked at the scary tone.

" B-Belarus, calm down. I can't hear them speaking." She whimpered. Her sister ignored her and continued to bother Russia.

She sighed and looked around for something to entertain her while this went on around her. Her eyes landed on Canada, who looked about as depressed has she felt.

Katyusha shook her head and went back to trying to listen, but she was unable to ignore the chaos that had broken out around the room.

She wiped her eyes, which had begun to form tears. She stood up and turned on her heels, storming out. She missed the moments with her little siblings where it was peaceful. Where everything was innocent. Where there were no alternate motives.

The world had become to selfish and confusing to allow those anymore. It was stressful for a sister of two. Especially when her back gave her enough problems. She waited outside the door in a chair. It was wooden, but it felt padded. Strange.

" Excuse me?" A quiet voice seemed to whisper behind her. She jumped slightly. " Can you stand up please?" She gingerly stood up, glancing around.

" Who's there?" She squeaked. " I am armed!" She held up a pitchfork, which definitely hadn't been there before.

" Um... I'm right here." Canada sat in the chair she had been seat in just moments before.

Katyusha screamed at the sudden appearance of him. " Oh god you're just like America," He plugged his ears and grumbled," I didn't mean to startle you."

She nodded, wiping her eyes and sniffling. " I-It's okay. I should've looked before I sat down."

He nodded, sadness flashing in his eyes. He gave her the best smile he could muster. " I'm Canada."

" I know." She said quickly. He was a bit shocked. Usually if people didn't notice him, they didn't remember his name either. " You're America's little brother, just less.... loud."

He shrugged," Anyway, what aboot we go grab something to eat. I'll make it up to you." He suggested with a small smile.

She nodded rapidly as the yelling in the room got louder. It made her even more tempted to escape the chaos. He grabbed her hand when something impaled a plant, pinning it to the wall. He led her outside towards his car.

Katyusha kept sneaking peaks at their intertwined hands and inwardly blushed. He opened the door for her and she climbed in the passenger seat to his. . . Wait was he driving a minivan? He smiled shyly.

" It's good for kids and drunk countries whose alcohol has gone to their heads." He explained. She nodded and cracked a humorous smile.

" You're like a mother, Matthew." She pointed out. He started the car and shrugged as he backed out of his parking spot and out into the street.

The Ukrainian woman looked out the window just in time to catch a pair of violet eyes that were filled with rage. She squeaked and leaned back in her seat, hoping that he hadn't seen who was driving. She knew he didn't get along with America, who said he would get along with Canada?

Said American made situations worse from them when he yelled," YEAH MATTIE! GET SOME!"

The Canadian blushed and leaned out the window, trying his best to shout with his quiet voice," Go away Alfred."

He rolled up the window and drove away. Katyusha snuck one last look at her brother. Right as he knocked out Alfred.

The two were tense the entire time; Ukraine picking at her food while making sure her brother wasn't around and Matthew trying to make quiet conversation. " Are you okay?" He finally asked.

She shrugged. " I'm just worried for you. My brother can be so mean sometimes..."

He froze. He hadn't even thought of Russia. An overprotective Russian who thought he was America could be so much worse than anyone could comprehend. He shivered. " M-Maybe we should head out then. I can drive you back to the hotel." He offered, signing the check.

She raised an eyebrow. " Where are you staying, Matthew?"

Matthew sighed, " Well, since this meeting is held in America, I have a summer home close by that I stay in. Just a little outside of D.C."

She cuddled with her necklace. " May I. . . Go with you instead? I don't want to deal with my brother yet. Or my sister when she thinks he cares for me too much." She laughed nervously at her oddly pushy family.

He nodded as they walked to his car. " That's fine with me. I've got a guest room that Alfred uses when he doesn't want to be alone-" He paused for a moment, " If you don't mind me asking, why are Belarus and Russia so violent?"

She shook her head and her eyes became distant as fond memories of them danced in her mind's eye. " Russia is a big sweetheart if you don't get on his bad side. He can be a little overwhelming at times, but he's got a good heart. Belarus just likes him too much, that's her problem."

They arrived shortly after. It was a simple log cabin in the middle of a small property. He took her coat and hung it on the rack. She sat down on a couch while he ran off to fix her some hot cocoa. She smiled as she looked around. Finally, her eyes widened at a window.

The view was so spectacular. A waterfall cascading down a small cliff, flowers blooming all around. But that wasn't what caught her eyes, no. It was her brother. He smashed through the window as Matthew came back in, causing the Canadian to scream and drop the mug.

Ukraine began to cry at the surprise. Russia looked raging mad. " What are you going with my sister, America?" He growled, all the sweetness gone from his voice.

" I'm Canada." Matthew corrected. Russia blinked, his anger turning into confusion.

" Wait what? But-" He looked between the two. " But you're America."

" No, little brother. This is Canada. He's very sweet and quiet." Ukraine testified.

He shook his head. " What?"

Canada carefully crept closer to the television and turned it on. " We were going to watch a movie...." He gingerly implied.

And so, Russia left without another word and his brain completely flabbergasted. Katyusha tilted her head. " So which movie are we watching?"

" Have you ever seen Cinderella?" He asked, sitting next to her on the couch as the movie began.

" I don't believe I have." She smiled. He nodded. A noise could be heard from the kitchen. He frowned and looked over his shoulder. Ivan smiled and moved his finger across his neck, gesturing to his sister.

Katyusha looked up at Matthew. " Is something wrong?"

He jumped. " N-No no. Nothing's wrong....."

" Nothing at all."
