Chapter Three - Shopping

I wake up and open my bag to pick out a shirt and jeans which are way to big for me seeing as they are hand-me-downs from my older siblings and see as I'm a lot less skinnier than them non of it fit me. I then walk to the bathroom and have a quick shower then dry my hair and get dressed. I walk down the stair to see both gran and pop dressed and waiting for me
"Can I get a job?" I asks them
"Sure I don't see why not but, wait until you have settled in yeah" pop says ruffling my hair making me smile up at him
"So clothes shopping" gran says
"Are the best clothes you have?" Pop asks
"These are all that I ever get given, unwanted hand-me-downs that are way to big" I say while we walk out to pops car a big 60 series land cruiser. I jump in the back as pop and gran get in the back
"Well, we are going to show you how you should be treated my love" pop says making me smile
"Really?" I ask
"Yes really you sill" gran says laughing at me. Pop pulls out the driveway and takes off down the road I watch as we head into the city and watch the sun dance across the buildings like it's chasing us through the city making me want to take a photo of it but I don't have anything to do that with
"So let me guess, you don't have a phone, wallet, bank account or any descent clothes?" Pop says smirking at me
"No I don't" I say
"Well looks like we have to change that" gran says while holding onto pops hand I turn back to look out the window

Skipping the rest of the journey and getting a bank account ect

"So what do you want to do first?" Gran asks me
"Can we please get my uniform?" I ask
"Of course we can" pop says laughing
We walk into the store that sells all of the school uniforms, I walk up to the lady and ask for where the uniforms for my school are kept and she directs me to it
"Thank you" I say as she walks away
"So are I was thinking one skirt and dress shirt and then two pairs of sports clothes" gran says making me smile massively
"Read my mind" I say
"Love we will be looking around just come find us when you are ready" pop says holding gran close and walking off
"Okay bye" I say waving at them
I turn back to the selection of clothes and pick out two pair of shorts and two sport shirts then a dress shirt and place them on the floor next to as I try and reach up to the skirts but can't u till I hear a laugh next to me
"What?" I say Turing around to come face to face with a slightly taller boy about 5' 4" with dark blond hair and blue eyes
"Need some help?" He say smirking and reaching up
"What size?" He asks with his hand above his head
"Umm a small please" I say and he reaches up and pulls down a small skirt for me
"Thanks" I say taking the skirt off of him
"Welcome, I'll take these up the font for you" he says with a dopey smile
"No that's fine I can do it" I say
"Nar fam allow it" he says making me laugh
"I'm sorry wait what?" I say laughing at him
"Oh shit didn't even realise your accent before" he says rubbing the back of his neck
"Um yeah I'm Aussie" I say blushing a bit
"Well nice to meet you Oz I'm Harry" he says taking the rest of my things and walking away I grab a black hoodie and follow him to the counter which he walks behind
"So you work here?" I ask him
"That obvious?" He says laughing
"Fuck I mean, um.....don't worry" I say mentally yelling at myself
"Its all good" he says smiling
"So you new round here?" He asks
"That obvious?" I say smirking
"A little" he says
"Cool...." I say just as gran comes over
"Why didn't you come get me silly" she says lightly hitting the back of my head
"Sorry gran I forgot" I say smiling at her
"No mrs, it was my fault honestly" harry says holding out his hand for gran to shake which she does
"Whatever" I say rolling my eyes causing both myself and Harry to laugh
"So umm.... anyway that comes to 50 euros" Harry says taking grans money and running it through the till
"Ellie come here" I hear my pop say and my gran walks off in that direction
"So...." I say awkwardly
"So see you around OZ" Harry says with a wink then takes off
"Yeah bye" I say to myself and walk over to my grandparents
"So where to next?" Pop asks
"How about shoe shop?" Gran says getting excited
"Okay while you two go to the show shop I'm going to go pick up something" pop says ruffling my hair then walking away
"Okay gran, show me the way" I say taking her hand as she leads the way to the shoe store
"Hello how may I help you today?" A young lady around mid twenties asks us as we walk in
"Hello I would like a pair of sports shoes and some normal everyday foot wear" I say as she leads me to a bench
"And what foot size are you dear?" She asks
"Umm I'm not really sure" I say awkwardly
"That's okay dear no need to be embarrassed I'll help you out" she says kindly. The lady comes back with one of those metal things that measures the size of your foot and I take my over sized shoe off and place it next to me then slip my foot onto the device
"Okay dear looks like you are a size six" she say smiling at me
"Is that good?" I ask
"I would say it's perfect not to big and not to small" she says making me smile
"Thank you" I say slipping my shoe back on
"Okay so lets start with sports shoes I think you will like both of these" she says pulling out two boxes and showing me one shoe from each pair. One pair was a black Nike shoe with white accents and laces the other pair was Nike as well but was bright blue and white
"I love them" I say as she hands me both shoes and I examine them
"How much for the blue pair?" I ask but just before she can answer gran swoops in and says "young lady spent you worry about money this is our treat"
"But gran" I say
"No buts, she will take both please" gran says smiling at both me and the girl
"Will do mam" the girl says and walks to the front desk and holds both pair for me
"Now on to everyday, let's look and if you see anything you would like you can get" gran says
I end up picking up a pair of black and white vans as well as a pair of B&W old skool pair of vans and a pair of B&W converse
"Now go wait out the front while I pay" gran says pushing me out the font
"Thank you" I say to the girl then walk out. About five minutes later gran walks out with the two bags of shoes which I take from her
"Thank you gran" I say kissing her on the cheek
We then go into an assortment of shops including bra and undies shops and clothing shops, makeup store as well as the hairdressers
We walk into the hairdressers and wait till I can be served
"Gran where did pop go?" I ask her slightly worried
"He's fine love just doing some things" she smiles at me making me a little less nervous
"How long has it been since you have been at a hairdressers?" Gran asks as I'm looking for inspiration for my hair
"I've never been to one" I say breaking eye contact with her
"That's okay, they say theirs a first time for everything" she says making me smile
"Mum always said that" I say smiling up at her
"Who do think she got it off" gran says laughing
Just then my name is called and I leave gran with a hug and walk over to the chair
"Hello babe, names cindy, what can I do for you today?" The girl- cindy says
"Umm hello I'm scarlette, can I please have my hair done like this" I say showing her the photo on my phone
"Of course you can, but first I need to see what I'm working with" she says while pulling out my hair which I always keep in a bun
"My my my when was the last time your hair as been cut?" She asks
"About a year ago" I lie
"Well darl, most of this needs to go so I need you to stand up" she says helping me up and putting a cape on me
"How do you live with it so long?" She asks me
"I don't know I alway wear it up" I say
I look in the mirror to see it down past my bum hitting my mid thigh
"Well you won't recognise you when I'm done" she says pulling my hair together in a ponytail then chopping it of so it just ends at the middle of my back. Wow I look different already
"Beautiful" she says making me blush
Time skip the rest of it
I thank cindy again and walk out to show my gran my new hair. Gran pulls me into a massive hug and keeps telling me how beautiful I look and how much I look like my mother. She then pays for it and we walk to a small cafe and take a seat and wait for pop.
"And who is this new lovely young lady?" Pop says ruffling my hair
"Hey watch it" I say joking and fixing my hair
"Sorry sorry" he says laughing
"It's okay do you like it?" I ask him
"Of course I do" he says pretending to be shocked making me laugh
"Oh and one more thing well actually two" pop says as he pulls a bag up onto the table
"These you will need, for school" he says sliding the bag towards me
"What?" I say as I slowly open the bag to revile an iPhone 5s and a MacBook Air.
"Pop there's no way I can accept theses" I say shocked
"Nonsense they are yours" he says making me cry as I reach across and hug both of them
"Thank you so much" I say wiping away my tears. We eat lunch and then get ready to go home. In the car I fall asleep to the noises of the city.
