Chapter Four - School

Fuck sake I'm late already, nice one scarlette! Way to go first day of school and you are off to a great start
I quickly run to the bathroom and do my fastest to look presentable and run back in to my room brushing my teeth as I go. "WHAT ARE YOU STILL DOING HERE YOU ARE TEN MINUTES LATE" Pop exclaims frantically pushing me into my room
As he hands me his cup of what I assume was he morning cup of tea to spit my toothpaste into to. Bloody legend! I quickly throw on my school shirt and a black hoodie and black shorts and grab my socks and bright blue Nikes then running down the stairs with my phone in one hand and shoes and socks in the other. Pop already has my bag and keys in one hand and an apple in the other I shove my phone into my pocket and yell out goodbye to my grandmother then shut the door with my foot as pop starts the car I jump in the car and buckle my belt as pop reves the car and drives off at top speed towards school I put my sock on and then my shoes and then run my hands through my hair as we fly down the street. "What you trying to do kiddo? I though you had already left!" Pop says not taking his eyes off the road and pulling up at the school letting me jump out and throwing me my bag and yelling goodbye as he gently pulls sways from the curb a lot more carefully than he did less than ten minutes ago
What would I do with out him mum! I run down the hall with bag in hand one sock hanging out of my hoodie pocket and an apple with five massive chunks taken out of it in my mouth as I try to put everything on or away into my bag and I slowly come to a stop seeing as the hall ENDS! And start running back the same way I came before taking the left to turn to the office when I full on sprint into someone or something apologising as I get up and see a boy with slight stubble and his face staring down at me shocked
"Sorry, didn't see you there flash" he says reaching out his hand to help me up as I chuck my apple
In the bin actions the hall as he helps my up and it goes straight into the bin with a slight thud
"Sorry got blast" I say smirking at him running away from the scene
"Hey your going the wrong way..." he says
"That obvious hu....," I say Turing back and sprinting down the hall
"Umm thanks..." I say not finishing my sentence because I don't know him name
"Josh, oh and by the way you only have one sock on" he calls back answering that last part of my thanks as I take a right and turn head right out of earshot and into the office and stroll straight up to the desk panting
"Hello dear how my I help you" a lady around forty says to me
"I'm new here and I'm late can I please have all of the things I need so I can be on my way and no later than I am now" I say in a rush leaning all my weight against the counter
"You don't mess around do you miss..."
"Jackson, Scarlette Jackson" I say filling in my name for her
She clicks a couple of times then stop and clicks a few more then waited a minute as some pages print out and she hands me a letter that I quickly scan over and then sign along the dotted line and hand it back to her
"Fast reader?" She says
"Just look for key points" I say as she hands me a stacks of pages telling me quickly which ones are which then telling me to be on my way and to come Back  her after lunch but not letting me go until she tells me to brush out my hair. I smile at her and quickly pat down my hair and run off down the hall taking a left  back to where I had run into to Josh before if that was his name again. I see out of my corner of my eye him exit a classroom and shake his head
"Do you ever stop running flash?" He says laughing at his statement and walking off down towards the other end of the hall as I run up some steps earring a few evil looks for my passing victims of my craziness.
"Sorry" I say to everyone as I rush to where I was told my first lesson was English. I gently knock on the door and wait for it to be open
"Um hello I'm new and sorry for being late" I say as the teacher opens the door for me to come in
"Class this is Scarlette she moved here from..." he says
"Umm Australia" I say awkwardly looking at the ground
"So you can sit next to my star pupil Vik" he says pointing to a desk in the middle of the class with a small Indian boy sitting by himself. At the teachers statement he eats a few laughs which makes the boy um Vik shrink down into his chair a bit more I slowly make my way over to the desk and sit down next to him
"Hi" I say turning to face him
"Ah so you must be flash" Vik says making me confused
"Sorry what?" I say to he still confused
"Ah my friend Josh said he ran well more like an Aussie girl with one sock on ran into him, and he named you flash" he says
"Oh now that makes sense" I say taking off my shoe to put my other sock on
"So Scarlette tell me about your self" Vik says making me shocked no one ever asks about me
"Well, I like to read I'm from Australia I'm have a huge passion for photography but don't have a camera for it and that's basically it"
"Oh and I play soccer" I say to him to see him smiling at me
"Me, you and my friends will get along just fine at this rate" he says
"So who are your friends?" I asks not meaning to sound rude
"Their not in this class all to dumb" he says making me laugh softly
"Wait what do you mean all to dumb?" I say
"This is the highest English class" he says like it's obvious
"What I've got to be in the wrong class then" I say confused
"Nope already look you are in all of the top classes pretty much" he says writing down what one the board
"What how do you know that?" I ask
"I may or may not have hacked into the school system to look" he says very quietly
"What no way" I say astonished
"Yes way no don't tell or else" he says trying to look scary
"Or what Vik you will kill me with your mouth" I say laughing
"Oi that a mad sentence" he says looking shocked at me
"Wait no aww fuck I didn't mean it like that, fuck" I say hitting my head on the desk
"I meant as in with your words" I say muffled by having my mouth agains my arms and desk
Vik then chokes back a laugh which makes me smile
"You know I like you" he says poking me in the arm
"Thanks mate not to bad yourself" I say laughing
We sit in class talking and getting to know each other by the time the bell rings we are basically best friends and it feels great.
"So times up who's my next victim?" I say to Vik making us both laugh
"Um well Josh is in our next class so I guess he is" Vik says smiling as we walk out the classroom. As we exit the door a crowd of people rush about to the next class in hopes of not being late.
"Yo Vik" some guy calls out to Vik heading the other way
"Man like Vik" another says
All to which Vik gives a nod of his head
"So mister popular, where to next?" I ask
"Please don't" he says annoyed
"Sorry didn't know it was a nerve" I say trying take back my comment
"It's okay" he says sighing
We walk down the hall in quite and walk down the steps to the bottom level of the school and into the first door on the left. Vik walks in with confidence and sit down at the back row of table for four people. I notice the boy with dark hair to match the colour of charcoal and a full rounded face with sunken in eyes and a slight stubble, Josh I think his name is. Then there is another boy sitting next to him with dark blonde hair almost the colour of bronze and a long striking face with high cheek bones and full rounded lips a soft shade of pink. For some reason he reminds me of a giraffe
"Guys this is..."
"Scarlette" Josh says cutting Vik off
"Josh" I say giving him my best sass look
"Nice to see you have two socks on now" he says smirking
"Nice to see you actually in class and not in the hallway" I say sitting on the desk opposite them
"And this is?..." I say to a stunned Josh and a laughing Vik
"Cal or Freezy as the lady's call me" the bronze haired boy says
"And they call you that why?" I say leaning in to rest my arms on the desk and look him dead in the eyes
"Because of my charm" he says making my body language
"Funny I thought it would of been because they freeze like statues when they see you to avoid conversation" I say smirking and leaning in more so I noses are touching
"Funny thing that" I say laughing "looks like the tables have changed" I stay for a second longer eyes still locked before I pull away
"Looks like Freezy is to cold to move" Josh says laughing and hitting Cal on the back making me jump back then blush. I giggle then wink at him and walk back over to sit down next to Vik
"I like you flash" Josh says still laughing
"I wouldn't if I was you" I say dead serious
"And why is that?" Cal says
"You wouldn't want to know" I say Turing back to face the front
"Hello class lets start" she says placing a stack of paper on her desk
"I believe we have a new girl" she says easing an eyebrow and scanning the room
"Ah Scarlette I believe it is" she says looking at me
"Yes" I say boding my head at her
"Lovely to have another girl in the class, make you will be able to calm down these boys once in a while" she says smiling
"Oh don't worry I can handle myself" I say looking at her then Cal and winking at him making him roll his eyes and look away. Then turn to Josh and ask "what is this class?"
"This is top level science" he says laughing
"What the fuck Vik you weren't joking" I say laughing
