It hadn't been long after the twins' birthdays that they had recieved their acceptance letters to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They were no short of bouncing off of the walls about it either.
Their Gran had taken the liberty of gathering their school supplies the day before their departure. The first time they had accompanied her, they wound up setting let loose a cloud of belch powder outside of Gringotts. Not the easiest thing to explain to the Ministry and a gaggle of burping goblins. From that moment forward, they hadn't been allowed to set foot there. Legally. They were not allowed back at Diagon Alley, as per ministry order, until they turned 13. The only exception was purchasing their wand seeing as how it was a requirement. The wand does in fact pick the witch. So she picked them up after gathering everything the twins would need for their academics, venturing back to Diagon Alley with all three children in her company. She wasted absolutely no time in getting to Ollivander's, not wanting to leave any opportunities for trouble.
The moment Aurora stepped inside the hectic looking wand shop, she felt welcomed and at ease yet excited at the same time. She was eager to see what wand she would have by the end of their trip.
"Ah, the Longbottom twins. I've been long awaiting you two." The elderly man stepped out into their view and Aurora immediately could tell she liked him.
"But I'm sure your grandmother doesn't want to be held up too long, so let's get to finding your wands, shall we?" He added that bit on as he returned the shelves, grabbing various boxes and eyeing them before he would put them back with a shake of his head. After a few minutes, he returned with five boxes, motioning for Aubrey to come forward. She eyed the boxes just as Garrick had done, chewing on her lower lip. He picked up one of the wands before handing it to her, careful in doing so.
Aubrey gave the wand a small wave, a stack of papers being blown to the floor before she quickly went to place it back into it's box.
"No worry, Miss Longbottom. I'll sort them out when we're done here," the pecuiliar man quipped as he gathered a couple more prospective options. She tried another few before Mr. Ollivander handed her one that particularly caught her eye.
"9 1/2 inch, Black walnut, unicorn tail hair core, solid. Go on, give it a wave."
Aubrey did as told, the papers that had formerly been blown off the table reorganizing themselves neatly upon the counter. She smiled almost from ear-to-ear as she recieved her wand, not even taking her eyes off of it.
"Ooh! Thank you for getting ahead of me! Very polite, young lady!" Olivander turned to Aurora next. "Now you, miss."
Aurora was next, getting waved over by the wand maker. He started with a few that he had let Aubrey try, each of them having not-so-pleasant outcomes. That was until he handed her one with a curious look upon his face, muttering something to himself.
Aurora immediately took a liking to the wand, giving it a wave like she had done with all the others. Things began shifting in the room as they became neater, messes being cleaned off of the floor, boxes being straightened out, dust almost disappearing into thin air.
"Well I think you just got picked by a wand I've been struggling to place for years. 12 inches, Dogwood, Thunderbird tail feather core. Fairly pliant. They say Dogwood has a keen eye for mischief and is quite hard to master, but loyal to it's owner. And bigger wands that attract to smaller people are said to have found bigger personalities. Thunderbird tail feather cores are rare and can perform powerful spells, but they're tricky. But they also can sense danger and have cast spells on their own on occasion." He gave Aurora a pat on the back with the explanation as Augusta paid the man 14 galleons.
