"What?!" Cathy demanded, shrieking with terror.

Eve flinched at her boss's outrage.

"I understand your mood, but the technicians have it under control." Eve quickly assured her.

Cathy's vision was ever so slightly tinted red and she quickly sat down to gather her thoughts.

She quickly made a list of all her enemies -- there weren't very many.

"Look, I know it's a bit, but it's probably just a prank. However, Jace, the head attorney, suggested that you stay low for a while." Eve carefully said.

"Lay low?! I'm one of the top three richest people in the whole fucking world and Jace has the nerve to tell me to lay low!" Rage came off of Cathy in thick waves.

"I can upgrade the home security, but a hit man... " Eve' s voice trailed off when she realized the screams coming from upstairs.

Horrible, bone chilling screams and people trying to shut down the building.

"Run now!" Cathy hissed, pushing Eve to the emergency exit.

Panic surged through both women. How did someone get in?!

Cathy finally found the emergency exit and by then, the screaming had stopped completely.

"I'm going to get the handgun from Warner's office a few doors down. Follow me carefully and do not draw attention to yourself." Cathy warned Eve.

Eve nodded and trailed quietly behind her boss when Cathy opened the door that let light blind both of them until their eyes readjusted.

Cathy looked behind her to make sure Eve was there and to her satisfaction, she was.

Both girls stealthily weaved through the New York City crowd to a small run down brick building wedged between a radio shack and a deli.

Upon arriving, Cathy went straight for the office that lay snug at the back of the building.

When she opened the door, she had to clasp her hand firmly over her mouth. On the floor lay Warner's dead body in a pool of blood. The whole room reeked of stale blood and the flies that picked at Warner's dead body.

A lump formed in Cathy's throat and she felt a sweep of nausea.

This feeling that she felt, this horrible feeling that she had caused, made a filed memory resurface and it was probably the most drastic memory in her mind.

" Dear, when I say run, you have to go straight to uncle Warner and aunt Haley." Cathy's father told her strictly.

Cathy nodded her head and got ready.

"Now!" Her father screamed at her, making her take off like a jet.

When she was across the street, she peeked through uncle Warner's building to see a man in black shoot her daddy in the back of the head.

Her piercing screams were drowned out by the sound of her thumping heart.

Cathy jolted out of the past and shook her head.

"That was just a dream, I never even knew my parents." She murmured to herself.

"Ma'am, we should be going." Eve pressed, pointing at the figure that was hastily searching for someone in the street.

Cathy took a deep breath and took the handgun out of the bottom metal file cabinet before leaving the building.

When the girls stepped outside, swarms of press and police surrounded the C.C. Styles New York division.

Cathy felt a tear fall from her cheek. The building that she was so very fond of was now littered with dead bodies. Dead, rotting bodies.

"Excuse, are you alright?" An older man asked Cathy.

Cathy wiped a tear from her cheek and nodded.

She was most certainly anything but okay. She felt like a worthless piece of shit. She had left all those people in there to die while she simply walked out.

Eve tugged at her arm and when Cathy turned to speak to her loyal companion, her heart rate sky rocketed.

Eve had blood dripping from her mouth and was desperatly gasping for air. Cathy risked a glance at the rest of Eve.

The tip of kitchen knife was pointing sticking out of her abdomen, piercing a few vital organs. Blood stained Eve's white coat and trickled down her legs and onto the sidewalk.

"Go, run... " Was all Eve could say before her body slumped to the ground.

Fear was the only thing that made Cathy's legs take her in the other direction.

Just when Cathy rounded the deli corner, she heard the screams from the people in the street when they finally saw Eve's lifeless body.
