Tick tock.
Tick tock.
The sound of the clock ticking may drive others crazy but to me, it calms me down. It lets me know that I still have time.
Time to do what? You may ask.
Well, anything basically but there's one specific thing that I love doing.
I'll tell you about that later.
My name's Elizabeth.
My last name doesn't really matter. I mean, we all die anyway.
But to start off my story, let's go back to when it all started.
I started hearing the voices when I was younger. I was only 7 at the time and I had no clue what was going on inside my head.
I was in the kitchen when my milk spilled all over the floor.
My mother yelled at me so much that day and that seemed to be the breaking point.
"Elizabeth, you've made such a mess today! Clean that up and go to your room this instant before I hurt you!" She shouted.
Poor mother. I had been such a bad girl that day..
I got up and complied, cleaning up the mess I had made.
As I wiped up the milk, I heard something in my head.
It sounded like a whisper.
I stopped for a second and looked around, trying to find out who was speaking to me but it was only me and my mother in the room.
I shrugged it off and continued cleaning.
"Elizabeth.."
I heard the voice whisper and I jumped.
"Who's there?" I shouted and my mother looked at me in confusion.
"Elizabeth, honey, no one's here. Are you alright?"
I pierced my lips in disapproval. What's wrong with me?
"Elizabeth, it's me. Your best friend."
"My best friend?" I whispered, hoping my mother didn't hear.
"Yes, dear. I need you to do something for me."
"What's that?" I whispered.
A smile came onto my face as the voice explained it's plan.
I got up and threw away the napkins I was using to clean up the milk.
I looked at my mother who was calmly doing the dishes and humming peacefully.
I grabbed the toaster just like the voice said and tried to contain my giggles.
"Surprise!" I yelled, throwing the toaster into the water.
I laughed loudly as her body danced wildly just like the voice said she would.
The voice laughed with me, making me laugh even harder.
They picked up her body that night.
Now the voices are stronger. There's several different ones all telling me to do one thing.
Kill.
But it's not considered killing.
You see, it's just all one big prank.
The voices said that it'll all come together in the end so I'm just waiting for the big surprise.
Hopefully it's as funny as the first one.
It's been 14 years since I pranked my mom. She still hasn't come back but the voices said I'll see her again.
She'll be back.
I sipped on my coffee as I waited in the patient's room. I was visiting my local doctor to get a quick check up.
"Elizabeth!" My name was shouted.
I stood up and made my way to the doctor, smiling at everyone I saw.
As you can see, I'm in a bit of a good mood. I just pranked someone yesterday and nobody's found out. It sucks when people do find out, though. I get questioned about it and it's so hard not to laugh.
I threw a screwdriver at his eye and it got stuck in there.
I know, it's so funny. I literally couldn't stop laughing as I did it.
He had no idea what was coming for him!
Anyway, I sat on the bed waiting for the doctor.
A man walked in with a welcoming smile on his face. "You must be Elizabeth."
"Yup." I smiled back.
"You're here for the routine checkup, correct?" He questioned and I nodded.
"Well let's begin"
He did everything normally but then he asked a question that made me freeze.
"Elizabeth, do you experience anything... different inside your head?" he asked.
"No, why do you ask?" I raised my eyebrow in confusion.
This isn't something that's usually asked during a check up.
"Well... there's reports here that you're suspected to have...well I don't know how else to say this but I'm just going to say it. You've been suspected to have schizophrenia."
I froze, a smile coming onto my face. "You must be mistaken, doctor. I'm perfectly fine."
He took a step closer. "Elizabeth...do you hear voices?"
I began to feel anger towards his accusations. "You're going to ruin the surprise." I mumbled.
Kill him.
"Excuse me?" The doctor pressed.
Kill him.
"I said, you're gonna ruin the surprise!" I shouted, jumping up and grabbing the nearest object.
A scalpel.
I shoved in into his eye, hearing him scream. I grabbed a needle and plunged it into his chest, injecting whatever was in it into him.
I laughed loudly as the voices cackled.
I grabbed the sheet he was looking at and opened the window and ran.
No evidence.
That doctor almost ruined the surprise..
Good girl.
I smiled at the praise I was receiving from the voices.
They raised me.
They took care of me.
They love me.
And I love them.
