The woman beneath him was beautiful. So, so beautiful it was rather ethereal.
And as their lips touched, he allowed his emotions to take over.
Not for long.
"I have to go." He whispered, tenderly, afraid that he would break her heart more than his words already have.
The girl's grasp on him tightened.
"Always."
She frowned, "you always leave."
"I promise to be back before morning."
"You promise?"
"I promise."
"That's not enough."
"..."
"Stay here with me."
"... I can't, I-"
She placed a single finger against his lips.
"You can."
"..."
He hesitated and sighed, his face softening.
"Go to sleep, love. I'll stay by your side."
Their voices were nothing but a whisper.
She pressed herself firmly against his chest.
"I can't. If I do, you'll leave again."
"I won't. I promise."
"You never keep your promises."
"..."
"We're still young. We have a long way ahead. I have so much more I want to do with you."
"I know. Me too."
"So don't leave me now okay?"
"I won't. I promise I'll be with you till the end. Even if it means death."
"I'd never wish death upon you, my dear."
"I'm willing to die for you."
"Then I hope that day never comes."
And as he wrapped his arms around her delicate body assuringly, she relaxed, allowing herself to fall asleep.
She fell asleep unaware of the slim shadow slipping out of the silent room.
