By the time the last leaf had
Fallen
A thin dusting of frost
Coated the frozen ground.
By the time the first snowflake had
Fallen
Ice coated the lake,
Glowing luminously in the bright morning sun.
By the time the first person had
Fallen
A blizzard had begun to rage,
Dancing over the gentle slopes.
By the time they found the
Fallen
The crisp blanket of snow had obscured
The cracked glass of the pool.
