She was a gorgeous one. Hair as golden as honey. Beautiful spiced walnut brown skin. Eyes a stunning hazel green. Lips naturally pursed and kissable. Amber. We had been together a solid 3 years. It feels so cold and empty without her. As if I'm trapped in the black void of space, drifting away from all of humanity. Amber.
I can't believe someone would do something so horrible to her. They found her in the water faced down. The pathologist said she looked normal with her clothes on, just a bit dinged up. Few scrapes, cuts, and bruises. She had looked like she had been fighting. When they performed the autopsy they found she was stuffed with leaves and sticks. All of her organs were missing. My poor sweet Amber.
It was going to be our 4th year anniversary soon. Every time I close my eyes I can still see her breathtaking smile when she'd find her favorite maroon turtleneck that she always would match with her flared bell bottom jeans. If I concentrated hard enough I would often have conversations with her in my head. She'd always tell me it was alright and that I'd pull through all of this. Oh, my Amber.
I missed her greatly. I dragged myself through a very long month, watching as my grades plummeted, getting kicked off the football team, losing all of my scholarships. Ultimately my college had kicked me out. They didn't want a student, lacking in motivation, in their college anymore. I stayed at home, often crying myself to sleep. I couldn't take it anymore. I started seeing her in mirrors and out of the corner of my eyes. I was completely slipping. I decided it was time I go find her. Time to find Amber.
I had driven my car out in the cold Oregon night and parked on the side of a bridge. I left my roommate a note to give to my parents back in California and I climbed on the railing with my bottle of liquor and took a last swig before jumping to my death. Before I knew what had happened, I was gone too.
And all I could think about while feeling my life fade from my body...was her.
Amber.
