I update every other Monday! :)

-----------

I was never a very popular girl. Never had many friends nor owned anything super expensive. I think things picked up when stuff at home got really heavy. Around that time is when I really started to lose my mind. Now that I think of it. He's been around a lot longer than I thought he was. Maybe I've lost my mind a long time ago. At least seeing him is making me believe that.

"Karen.."

...

"It's time for school, baby."

Momma's voice.

"Mom?" I spoke, hearing my voice croak as my vocal cords woke up with me. "Common, Sweetie.  Time to get ready," She told me once more. I yawned and started to rub my eyes opening them once all the sleep was out. I smiled seeing the soft nurturing eyes of my mother and started to make my way out of my warm princess themed room. "Alright, into the bath!" My mom ordered and I sleepily obeyed. I walked into the hallway bathroom that I shared with my two brothers and stripped off my Princess Aurora nightgown. I moved my wild hair out of my face and stepped into the warm bubble bath mom prepared for me.

My mom came in and started to help me wash up. Once I was all clean she wrapped me up in a fluffy towel and started to blow-dry my curly hair. Momma would always tease me about how my hair looked like a lion who had just rolled out of bed. Once she got my hair pulled back nice and neat in a ponytail she sent me off to get dressed while she prepared breakfast. I walked over to my double door closet and looked around for something I wanted to wear. I scanned the full and organized closet going from outfit to outfit.

A brown shirt with little frills on the edge and a pair of denim capris, a white sun dress with yellow daises on it paired with a cream colored cardigan, a white butterfly garden shirt with a frilly pink skirt, a grey shirt with yellow and red stripes and plaid yellow capris...

"mm..so many choices.." I muttered to myself hugging the towel around my body tighter.

I decided on a big white shirt with flowers on it, my overalls momma made into shorts, and my favorite pair of dirty brown cowboy boots. I dried off best I could and put on my clothes walking downstairs once I was done. My dad was down in the den watching TV. I'm guessing he was tired cause he didn't talk much. I waved hello and gave him a kiss before running to the kitchen smelling pancakes.

"Hey, little Bean. Go tell your brother's the food is done." My mom said smiling at me. I stood there and stared at her for a little. Feeling like something wasn't right. Something in her eyes gave it away and I saw her trying to hide it from me. To bury deep down. I grabbed the washed out denim material of my overalls anxiously before nodding and turning to walk back upstairs.
My room was right next to my brother's room. Sometimes I would go in and play on the Super Nintendo we shared. I loved  Goof Troop and Metroid, but I think Super Mario Bros was my favorite at the time. We shared many other things too. My older brother David had a lot of different games he would show me and my little brother Dexter. We had a GameCube, and a Sega!

"Daaaviiiid! Dexterr! Mom said that the food is done! We're having pancakes!" I called from the other side of the door, knocking continuously as I spoke.

The door swung open and my older brother David walked out in his high school uniform ruffling my hair up while he passed by. "Hey! Mom's gonna be mad at you!" I whined trying to pat my hair down back into my yellow hair scrunchie. Dexter, my little brother, followed shortly after David and I followed right behind grumbling about my hair. All three of us came stomping down the stairs ready for pancakes. We met my mom in the kitchen where we grabbed our plates and took them back to the dining room. We sat down and ate our food in a comfortable silence while mom went to go get my dad. I could hear my mom faintly from where she was downstairs in the den but what had really caught my attention was the sound of my dad shooing her away pretty loudly. It sounded as if he were upset or angry. That made me nervous.
