My name is Nate Andrews and I'm 13 years old. I live in the Unova region with my mother, Mary. We live in a quaint house in a somewhat small city called Aspertia.

My dream has always been to become a Pokemon Master one day. I've been wanting my own Pokemon for as long as I can remember!

When I was younger, I was in Flocessy Town with my friend, Hugh, and his mother and father. Hugh is my best friend, even though he has a bit of a temper...

Anyway, Hugh's parents took us to see a battle in Flocessy Town. I remember it like it was just yesterday.

We were walking down the stone streets and saw this house. It was crowded, so I couldn't see much. Hugh's father let us squeeze through the crowd that was already watching. A man with fiery red hair and light brown skin stood confidently on a battlefield.

His opponent was a man. He had chocolatey skin and light hair. I stopped abruptly and stared in awe as the man with the fiery hair sent out this bull-like Pokemon from a Pokéball. It scraped its hooves against the dirt, causing small dust clouds.

Next, the man with the chocolatey skin sent out this Pokemon that reminded me of a ferret. It was tall and slender and had long purple ribbon-like arms.

I could've watched that battle for hours and hours. My eyes were completely glued to the battle. I was loving every minute of it. Getting to see a battle between such strong Pokemon made me feel so warm and happy inside.

Hugh tapped me on the shoulder and said, "I'm gonna get my own Pokemon some day. I'm gonna be just as strong as these Trainers to get something important back! I promise!"

I looked at him, not knowing what he was talking about, but smiled anyways, knowing that he was so determined to do something he really cared about. "Me too!" I said. "I'm gonna be a Pokemon Trainer and beat the Champion!"

My eyes widened as I saw the battle end. The ferret-like Pokemon lied on the ground with swirls in its eyes. The man with the chocolatey skin sighed as he withdrew his fainted Pokemon. '"Alright. Come on back, Mienshao." 'Amazing!' I thought to myself.

Hugh's parents looked at us and smiled. "So? What did you two think of that battle?" Hugh's mother asked. "It was awesome!" Hugh and I cheered in unison. "I wanna be a Pokemon Trainer like those guys someday!" I cheered. "Yeah! Me, too!" Hugh smiled. "Well, that's an excellent goal. Maybe when your old enough you'll be able to go on a journey around Unova on your own." Hugh's father said, confidently.

"I think that would be great for these two young lads." Said a voice. It was the man with the fiery red hair. "We saw the two of you watching our battle. You both seemed very intrigued. Especially you, young man." The man said, looking down at me. 'Wow! He's tall!' I thought.

"My name is Alder, and I'm the Pokemon Champion." Alder said with a smile. I looked up at him, my eyes wide and full of excitement. "Does that mean you're the strongest Pokemon Trainer in the entire world?!" I asked, excitedly.

Alder chuckled. "Ho ho! I wish, young man." He said with a wink. Hugh and I gasped. "Awesome!" Hugh and I said in unison. "You know, this man beside me is named Marshall. He's my pupil. We battle together and train together. He's very talented and takes great pride in his Pokemon." Alder said.

"It's nice to meet you two. I think you'll make excellent Trainers one day." Marshall said to us. "I'm a member of the Elite Four. My Pokemon and I trained and worked so hard for a title like this." Marshall said, proudly.

"Of course you did, Marshall!" Alder chuckled, slapping Marshall's back. Marshall flinched and laughed nervously. "Well, we mustn't keep you both waiting. It was very kind of you to speak to the boys." Hugh's mother said. "Come on, you two. Let's go." Hugh's father said as he ushered us away.

"Mr.Champion, sir? I'm gonna be a strong Trainer like you someday and challenge you!" I yelled back. "I'll be waiting for it when the time comes!" Alder smiled and waved. "Keep striving forwards, you two!"

"Keep striving forwards." That always lingers in my mind. I haven't forgotten the promise I made to Alder, but sadly, two years ago, he was beaten by a Trainer named Black and Alder lost his title. The Trainer then disappeared after a year of being the Champion and a new Champion was placed.

I've seen him walking around with his Pokemon every now and then, and I've always stopped to say hi.

When I saw him just a couple weeks ago, he asked me, "Nate? Do you still want to become the Pokemon League Champion?" "Of course!" I responded eagerly. "Alright. I'm proud that you've kept this goal for so long. I have faith that you will make it to the Pokemon League someday and become the Champion. Can you promise me that you will?"

Ever since that day, I made Alder a new promise. I would beat the Elite Four and then become the Unova region Champion!
