Your blood started to boil and you had
to clench your fists to stop yourself from screaming. An overwhelming wave of terror and pain swept through your body. You couldn't breathe; you feel like your throat was stuffed with cotton. You couldn't believe what you were seeing. You have just called him to join you at the mall, but he claimed he had a paper to write. Little did you know, he had the audacity to take another girl out to the same mall. You left with tears in your eyes, vowing to never speak to him again. You would keep him out of your life at all costs, no matter what.

The next few days of classes weren't
nice at all. Everyone was hovering over you like vultures, but you really didn't want to talk to anyone. Just as two more girls asked you how you broke up, and you were about to reach your breaking point, one of your friends shooed them away. He walked over to you and put his arm around your shoulder. He didn't say anything, but his presence was comforting. Tom made sure that you were okay throughout the rest of the day.

Once you got home, you got a text
from him that asked if you were alright and if you needed anything. You replied with a no, then you thanked him for being a sweetheart at uni. You were lucky to have a friend like him. Without realizing, you and Tom started having a conversation that lasted longer than intended. When you glanced at the clock, it was dinner time so you let Tom know that you had to go. He immediately called you;
"Hey, are you eating by yourself?"
"Yeah, why? I'll be fine,"
"Come eat with me at my place. I don't want to be alone,"

Although you are slightly surprised, you agree and head over to his flat. When you walk in, with Tom ahead of you, you are completely astonished. A bouquet of lilies frame the wooden table, and a simple dinner of pasta was laid out.
"Sorry, I'm not a very good cook..." He looked disappointed at his dinner.
"Tom, that doesn't matter. I could hardly even pull this off," You pulled a funny face at him and he chuckled. His laugh filled the room with light, and your veins felt like they have been filled with liquid gold.

You sat down to eat realizing that you were definitely going to spill pasta sauce down your shirt. Almost as if you had predicted the future, both of you were messy within minutes. You giggled together like 12-year-olds throughout the whole night. Even though you were only supposed to join him for dinner, he asked you to stay a while to watch a movie with him. Although you knew you should go back to your flat, you had never felt so happy with anyone's company like this before.

Soon enough you feel your eyes starting to close as you were on the couch with him. His arm was lightly resting around your body, and you lay your head on his broad shoulders. His chin touches the crown of your head and he looks down into your eyes. You look up at him and smile despite what had happened in the past few days. He whispers "I'm sorry,"
"It's alright, it wasn't your fault,"
"No, I-I mean... I mean I'm sorry that I wasn't there to stop you from get-getting hurt,"
"You're the best, thank you,"

You left your conversation at that, but both of you were comfortable with the silence. The last thing you remember, as you drifted to sleep was Tom's other arm wrapping around the other half of your body, holding you close.

When you woke up the next morning, you didn't recognize the room you were in, but the scent was familiar. You walked out of the bed and into the corridor. You saw Tom sitting at the kitchen table with a few books spread in front of him.
"Finally! You woke up! I wasn't sure if
you were alive!"

You grin at him, and shake your head.
You ask him what the time is and you have breakfast while he works. His brow was furrowed, and he looked confused. You made yourself a cup of tea, after asking him where everything was, then walk over to him. You look over his shoulder to try to help him, but your eyes get caught on his locks of chocolate hair, caressing his ears.
"I can feel you staring, you know?"
"I didn't mean t-to, s-sorry Tom," you
blurt out. He chuckled and kept on working.

You finish your tea, and tell him that
you should head back to your flat. The light in his eyes dies a little, and you thank him for the lovely company. As you pick up your bag and move to go out of the door, you turn to Tom and hug him. He hugs you back, tight.

As you walk out the door, you thank
him again and call out 'I love you'. You immediately realise your mistake and blush furiously. You feel so embarrassed, but then you hear 'love you too'. You turn around to see Tom's face like a reflection of yours; blushing and embarrassed. You stand like that for a good few seconds. You begin to stammer and look for something to say, but the next thing you know, Tom mutters 'oh screw it' and runs up to you. His lips touch yours and a shiver runs down your spine. He reaches to lay his arms around your waists and your arms wrap around his neck, pulling him close. You break the kiss, feeling confused.
"I'm sorry, I-I didn't want to m-make
you feel-" He says.
"Shut up," You whisper, realising this
whole time, he was always the perfect one. "I love you. And-and I'm sorry. That I didn't realise earlier,"

He opens his mouth to reply, but you
don't give him a chance to.
