"It's so hot in here!" whined Harry
"I know! Next time we come to this class we're sitting by the window!" Replied Ron.
Hermione was so done with this class. It was so dumb and professor Trelawney droned on and on and on...... She hated this class.
She stared at a little lamp in the corner of the stifling room as she twiddled with her necklace.
'Why did I ever come back to this class?' she thought to herself 'I'd rather be in muggle studies or history of magic.'
She got lost in her thoughts as professor trelawny continued on about how to read tea leaves and the many signs that you can find in them. Harry, Ron and hermione had all come back to Hogwarts. They had all been offered jobs as aurors almost immediately after the battle had ended by Kingsley Shacklebolt, the new minister of magic, but they had all wanted to return to Hogwarts for their final year. Harry and Ron had partially regretted returning as they had not thought about the upcoming newts. Hermione however had wanted to return so that she could study everything.
She had asked if she could have a new time turner and had had the idea that not only could she use it to get to all of her classes but also for more time to study. She made sure that one self would study in the gryffindor tower and the other would be at the library or outside during the warm weather. She could now rely on Harry and Ron to help her or cover for her, as well, as they already knew about the function of the time turner.
Hermione was snapped out of her reverie by Harry and Ron who were laughing and pointing at different signs in the book and comparing it to their tea cups. They had switched cups and were telling each others fortunes in a dramatic way "With my amazing magical abilities I predict that you will have a fight with a giant magical marshmallow!" Ron exclaimed waving his hands about in the air. Harry countered back with " Well with my far superior knowledge of fortune telling I predict that you will get hit in the head with a quaffle during our next quidditch match."
Hermione sat smiling at her two best friends as she continued to twiddle with her necklace and tap her foot as she waited for class to end.
All of a sudden she froze. She had only just realized what she had been doing for the entire lesson. She had been turning her time turner over and over in her hands. She felt the familiar sensation of flying backwards as everything wished by her in a blur of colors and shapes. Her ears were pounding and she screamed as she realized how far back into the past she was going but she couldn't hear herself. She had turned that thing thousands of times. How many years back was she going?
After what seemed like ages she could see things coming into focus again. She felt solid ground beneath her feet as she quietly fell into a chair in the back of the same room she had just left. It was mostly the same even though she could see slightly different cups and teapots around the room and less fabrics were strewn about the room. There was less decoration around the room and there were different people in this room. At the front of the class she saw a younger looking professor Trelawney with her same old spectacles that made her look like a bug, and her shawls and long strands of beads draped around her neck.
Nobody in the class seemed to have noticed her yet. She scanned the backs of people's heads in the classroom to see if she knew anyone. As her eyes crossed the backs of the heads she saw familiar black hair that stuck up in the back. 'It's Harry's hair!' She thought. She would recognize it anywhere. 'But where was Ron?' She wondered. 'Perhaps he's sick today. This must be after I dropped this class as well.' She was rather relieved. She thought she had gone back much farther than this but at least she was only transported a short while back. At least it wasn't decades. He was with three other boys who were unfamiliar but from the back of their heads she thought she recognized them from somewhere. 'Perhaps they are just students that I've seen around school.' She thought to herself. She stood up but stayed hunched over to not draw attention to herself. She snuck up to where the four boys were sitting and peered over their shoulders. They weren't paying attention to the class at all. They were silently casting spells on an old piece of parchment. She immediately knew what it was. She had used it so many times. It was the marauders map. She spoke aloud but quietly as to not to interrupt professor Trelawney. "What are y'all doin to the marauders map?" She questioned. At those words the four boys jumped in their seats and twirled around faster than hermione had ever seen something move. They all stared at her as a cold dread washed over hermione. She realized that it wasn't harry at all but an identical copy of him surrounded by a much younger and still shabby Remus Lupin, a much less aged Sirius Black and a timid and smaller version of the traitor Peter Pettigrew otherwise known to her as Scabbers.
She'd gone a lot farther back than a few years after all. She had gone back to the time of the marauders.
Thanks for reading this. This is my first fanfic and I have no idea if it's any good or if it's total rubbish. Please comment but please no hate.
