Author's Note: Thanks for reading! I figured I would reward myself for getting more readers with an early update. So, here is chapter two. It's better than the first chapter in my opinion. The plot is approached more carefully and everything is explained a lot better. Hopefully this will clear up everything from chapter one. Thanks and Happy Reading!
*************************************Chapter Two*******************************************************
I wake up in a hospital room. My parents, sister, brother and coach all crowd around my bed.
"What... What happened?" I ask. No response. No one looks the least bit affected that I've just woken up and spoken. For a minute I think that maybe they didn't see me, but judging by the way they're all staring at me, I know that's impossible. I'm about to speak again when a doctor walks in. Everyone looks at him expectantly.
"There's no change, Doctor. It's been four hours. She should be up by now!" My mother yells. Everyone nods in agreement. I sigh, they shouldn't be playing pranks at a time like this. I find my strength and hop off the bed, but no one notices me. They're all too busy yelling at the doctor. I clear my throat expectantly, nothing.
"Alright, alright!" the doctor silences them. "Let me have a look at her."
"Here I am, Doc. Good as new!" I say on the verge of shouting. He ignores me and moves toward the -newly empty- bed. I turn to see his reaction to my absence and what I see causes my blood to turn cold. I scream so loud that if people could hear me they would think I was being murdered. What do I see? My body lying on the bed, my head bandaged, my eyes swollen and puffy. The sight is disturbing enough, worse is the fact that my body is right there, and I'm... not in it. If my body is there, then where am I?
I turn to the doctor. Even if he can't see me, I'm determined to gather any information I can based on what he says to my family.
"So Doctor? How is she?" my dad asks nervously.
"Well, I hate to tell you this, but I have bad news. It seems like Vanessa has fallen into a coma. There's no saying how long she'll be out. Could be mere hours, could be days or weeks, maybe even months. We will continue to monitor her, but I need to put her on life support, for now she is breathing on her own, but who knows how long that will last." With that, the doctor leaves.
I'm processing everything when a loud cry breaks the silence-Sabrina. Soon everyone is sobbing and yelling. Nurses coming running in to try and comfort them. I walk over and put a hand on my sister's back. I can touch her, but it's as if there is a thin piece of glass stopping her from feeling me.
Great, I think, I'm stuck who-knows-where for who-knows-how long with no idea of how to get back. Oh, not to mention that no one can see me or hear me and I am completely alone.
I don't try to stop the tears streaming down my face. I'm so overwhelmed with sadness that I don't notice the doctor walk in with the life support machine, or the boy who walked in after him.
I walk over to my body, taking in the sight. My brown hair is streaked with blood, my blue eyes swollen shut. There are cuts on my face and my neck is in a brace.
I'm trying to remember what exactly happened when I hear footsteps coming behind me. There is a hand on my shoulder. "Shocking," whispers an unfamiliar voice, "isn't it."
Author's Note: I hoped you all liked that chapter. I'm hoping it gave you a better feel for the story than the first one did. Anyways, thank you again for reading this. You guys are amazing. Remember to vote/comment/fan! Any questions/ criticisms can be sent in a PM, blah, blah, you guys know the drill. Thanks and Happy Reading.
P.S. The next chapter will probably have to be posted next weekend. I just don't see when I'll have time to do it during the week, but if I can update early I definitely will! Thanks again :)
