I have these mosquito bites
They're still on my skin
We were outside on the bench
Taking everything in
I took it all for granted
The sun in the sky
Avoid it like a nightmare
Like the rivers in my eyes
This pain is so real
Unlike the prolonged sea
Of one day actually having
To let go and set you free
There's not a thing that kills me
More than every breath I take
This pain in my chest burns
Even when I'm not awake
These miles that separate us
Take a toll on my heart
I need to hear your voice
If we must so be apart.
If only for a goodbye
I need to know that you're okay
These messages aren't for lovers
Replies take many days.
I've been so fond of waves
Life is still and out of place
I can't hear a simple song
Without thinking of your face.
I drive in silence down the road
The Bites remind me of the pain
Sometimes I see the water
And wonder if we'll be the same.
Come back to me, please love
As the Bites, they disappear
No matter how long we're apart
I'll wait for you right here.
