When Naruto returns home from Hinata's, I'm gushing with excitement to hear about his night, and to tell him about mine. From the moment he sets foot in the door, I'm already on top of him hounding him with questions. "How was it? What did you guys do? Did you kiss? Hold hands?" I demand, Naruto holding up his hands defensively.

"Woah- hold on! Let me get my shoes off, and then I'll meet you on the couch!" he exclaimed. I nodded in agreeance, and took off towards the living room. I was bursting to hear about his night, and excited to tell him my story about Sasuke. Ah, Sasuke. I was feeling okay about having him on the team. He had been pretty sweet to me, nothing like the cold blooded monster Naruto and Sai seemed to have convinced themselves that he was. Plus, he was pretty attractive too, so that doesn't hurt, right?

After what felt like an eternity, Naruto finally walked into the room and sat down on the couch beside me. I excitedly shake his shoulder. "Spill!"

He gives me a confused glance. "What? It's not like the first time I've seen Hinata before."

I roll my eyes. He's so clueless sometimes. "Yeah dummy, but it's the first time you've hung out one on one with her!" I told him, but he remained unphased.

"So what? We just watched movies. She barely even talked to me. But I had to meet her dad- that was awkward! I felt so exposed and judged, he's a creepy dude," Naruto recounted.

I had never met Hinata's dad before, so I had no idea if he was exaggerating or not. The Hyuugas are usually very private when it comes to family affairs.

Naruto spent a few minutes describing some bland movie plot, oblivious to the fact that I had tuned him out as soon as he used the words explosion and motorcycle in the same sentence. When he had finished, it was his turn to ask me about what I did.

"Did you get home okay? I felt kinda guilty about leaving you to get home by yourself," he tells you.

I smile at him, a glint in my eye. "Not to worry. I'm a real shinobi now, right?" I remind him, pointing to my shiny new headband. "Anyways, I had Sasuke to walk home with me." I try to suppress a grin while I give Naruto time to register what you said.

"Oh that's nice what was he li- wait what? Sasuke? The Sasuke Uchiha? That idiot who was put on our team?" he practically shouts, totally dumbfounded.

I break out into a big smile. "That's the one! And get this- he wasn't being that rude to me either! I think he was trying to come off as kind, and a gentleman. He made a few weird comments- I think he called me a cripple at some point. But fact of the matter is, Naruto, he's trying to build a team with us, so you should try as well. Don't be so mean to him," I tell Naruto, much to his dismay.

"What? No way- that guy is a total douche! Wait- wha- Y/N! Why are you blushing? What the hell is your problem?" he accusingly points a finger at you, looking way more betrayed than he should. I feel the heat on my cheeks, which had seemed to creep onto my face without me noticing. "Stop it right now, Y/N! Stop before I tell Sasuke you have a crush on him!"

"Shut the hell up before I tell Sakura about the time you-"

"BequietIthoughtwesaidwewouldntbringthatupnomatterwhat" he spits out. "Anyways, you were walked home by Sasuke. Anything else? Did he kiss you, or anything interesting like that?"

"Sadly no, but he did sa-" I began, only to be cut off by Naruto once again.

"What do you MEAN sadly? You're saying you wish something had actually happened between you two? That's so gross- he probably smells like sweat and mothballs! And dirt! Disgusting!" Naruto yells. All I can do is laugh.

"You're probably right. Anyways, we should probably go to bed soon. Kakashi said he wanted us at the training grounds for 7 tomorrow," I remind him.

"Oh crap- I almost forgot! Thanks, Y/N," he says, walking past me to head upstairs to start getting ready for bed. I began my nightly routine, and wonder what the silver haired Jonin could have planned for the new team 7 tomorrow.

Meanwhile,

Sasuke was near the end of his long trek home. He was in a slightly bitter mood, he could have been home over an hour ago had he not decided to walk you home. He wasn't sure why he did it. Maybe it was because you made him laugh. Not a lot, but sometimes you would make a strange comment and he would snicker under his breath. How could someone be so awkward?

You're one to talk about awkward, he reminded himself. He practically called you a cripple when he dropped you off. Sasuke internally facepalmed, and continued to his house. He wondered if Itachi would be home. It had felt like forever since he had seen his older brother. After Sasuke's entire clan was massacred, it felt like forever since he had seen anyone.

Sasuke knew that Itachi was in a gang, even if Itachi refused to admit it to him. But even at the age of nine, Sasuke knew something was going on with his older brother. He was barely home. But when he did show up, he always brought gruff looking men, or girls dressed in ways Sasuke thought should be illegal. Once, when Sasuke was at the Academy, this girl named Ino called Itachi a pimp.

Sasuke had no idea what this meant, but he could tell from her tone that it wasn't anything he should be proud of. But desperate to protect his brother's name, Sasuke lashed out at her. He was sent home early that day, but no one at home noticed. His only caretaker, his brother, was away on another "mission". And judging from the amount of possessions missing from his room, it could be weeks, or even months until he returned.

Shaking away any negative memories of Itachi from his head, Sasuke finally neared the compound. He walked up to his house, and turned the door knob. The house was lit dimly, but still had a warm atmosphere. Itachi was seated at the table, reading a book. A kind smile gifted his face. "Hello Sasuke, how was your first day as a Genin?" Itachi greeted him.

Sasuke could never get used to this image of his brother, he would always view him as a cold and dangerous man. "It was fine," he responded, not wanting to engage in conversation.

"I prepared dinner, I had been saving it until you got home so you could tell me about your first day!" Itachi said hopefully. Even though Sasuke preferred to eat alone, and Itachi was aware, he could tell that Itachi was trying especially hard today.

"Yes, big brother," Sasuke muttered. "You should tell me about your day too."

As the table was set, and the meal was served, Itachi began to describe what he did that day. Sasuke didn't really listen, he already knew what his brother was going to say. Itachi had started work at a church, and his newfound religion was all he could ever talk about. Nowadays, with Itachi, it was always Jesus-this or Jesus-that. And frankly, Sasuke was getting fed up with it.

After Itachi finished with all of his 'holier than thou' Bible-thumping, he was eager for Sasuke to share. Sasuke in turn described some of the events of the day. He left out the kiss with Naruto, but there was one thing he mentioned that Itachi wouldn't expect Sasuke to share.

"Big brother, today I met a girl."
