Max kept running. He just couldn't stop. He was positive that he heard Angel's mother calling for him, confused on where the boy went, but even that couldn't stop him, no matter how guilty he felt. He couldn't be around her... he was dangerous. He would eventually kill her next, he was sure it would happen.
Where was he going? He didn't know. He just needed somewhere to blow off some steam and his built-up emotions. He could care less if those monsters, the ones who got Sammy, got to him, even though they were gone. If a tree fell on him, he could care less. He just knew that something would happen to him out here, as it did to his deceased friends. He figured he might as well just get done with it now, than to wait for it. It was inevitable, like Jinx had told him.
His eyes seemed to light up a small bit when he saw a cave, before it disappeared again when his thoughts came swarming back to him. Upon nearing the cave, he recoiled in his pursuit as he stared at it. It looked... creepy. It looked as if it were falling apart, but that was just how old it was. Being the curious child he was, he took a nervous step towards the cave, before going back to his frantic dash. If this would hide him from everyone, then he sure would go into it!
As he went through the entrance of the cave, it went from the average temperature, to a colder temperature. He shivered pathetically, wrapping his arms and tails around him, in attempt to warm himself up.
'Wait... What did Jinx say again?' He thought to himself, ignoring the wrench of his heart at the thought of her name, 'She said caves are usually humid, and usually never cold. But how IS it cold then?'
He shook his head of the thoughts, deciding it wasn't time for useless thoughts like that. It was time to let out some steam. He wasn't one to show his anger, but changes his anger into sadness. Which, his form of 'letting off steam', is crying his eyes out.
But he was unaware of the eyes on him as he did so.
"Quit being such a baby." A voice echoed, making Max tense up and leap onto his feet with a startled cry. His tails were both puffed out in fear. The voice scared him, but how it sounded terrified him. It sounded deep, but it had an echo that he knew wasn't coming from the cave. It was too compact with rocks in there to have that strong of an echo. Plus the cave didn't seem that big. The tone of that one sentence just had evil written all over it.
Max huffed to himself. "I was probably just imagining it..." he mumbled, his ears pushing back, as if not believing himself, "It's just in my head..." He stiffened again when he heard a laugh.
"Well, I can be in your head, if ya' want!" The voice cackled, "I am the master of illusions after all~" The white dog looked around again, but stopped when he spotted glowing yellow eyes in the darkest part of the cave, making him take a few, visible steps back in evident fear. Typical Max...
"There ya' go!" The being laughed evilly, "You're smarter than everyone else! You know I'm dangerous." As he said that, he stepped, more like levitated, out of the darkness. Max's eyes widened in fear at what he saw.
It seemed to be a wolf-dog, but the ears looked different. They curled in, similar to what horns look like. His fur was grey, and his eyes were yellow. But the whites of his eyes were black, which frightened Max to no end. He had a long, oddly pointed tail behind him and he dressed in rather nice, formal clothing. It was only a black coat, but still.
