Lilly came up to me before class, which was normal. She had a hesitant look on her face, which wasn't.
"What's up?" I asked her cautiously.
"I'm sorry, Isabelle..." she said.
"Why?"
"We really can't be friends anymore."
I dropped one of my texbooks in surprise, then stooped to pick it up. When I came back up, I saw her brown eyes glistening.
"What? Are you kidding right now? Please tell me you're kidding."
She shook her head slightly and turned away. Then she turned back and held up a hand in farewell. "Bye."
At a loss for words, I watched her walk away.
