Chapter 23

We could see the city walls.

My scouts had told me that the walls were manned quite heavily, and around 300 skeletons were stationed in front of the gate in platoons of 50 all heavily armored and equipped with weapons.

I was quite impressed with Luthers defenses.

Shame I'm going to destroy them.

I walked back to the command tent. And looked at one of the more higher up soldiers sent from the Drowned Trident Guid.

"Deploy the wall cleaners"
I said and the man nodded before rushing off.

Within seconds the attack had begun.
Players with powerful fire abilities combined together to create a huge attack that rained fire along the top of the walls. Soon fires were raging along the walls, and nearly a hundred skeletons roasted and turned to dust.
Quickly after that, the gates opened and 150 more Skeletons rushed outside to join the army in front of the gates. A single man on skeletal horseback rode out in front of the group.

He raised his hands and then quickly lowered them and suddenly objects could be seen getting launched from behind our walls towards us.

Luther has catapults??!?

I originally thought they were rocks until the first wave landed and it was naked bodies.

The bodies of the players he killed a week ago?  To taunt the attacking force?

But then the bodies started moving.

Quickly getting up, I realized that these aren't the dead of the last attack.
These are the cannibals.

They tore into the attacking forces ranks creating a total mass of chaos.

They were killed fairly soon but not after taking quite a few players with them.
Soon more and more were shot at us until I guess Luther ran out as I heard him scream charge and all 450 skeletons charged against my attacking force.

I ordered a charge also and the clash was astonishing.
Nearly a hundred players died in the first second of the battle, but even more skeletons died.
I started running towards Luther.

A couple skeletons started rushing towards me to attack but quickly realized it was me they didn't attack.

But I attacked, soon broken bones was all that was left of them, and I sprinted my way through towards the man in the skeletal horse at the back of the army.

Luther saw me, but to him I would be an attacking enemy knight aiming to kill him.
I guess he was smart enough to see how strong I must be and decided to not fight.

Black smoke started pillowing from his hands towards me. And soon a smoke cloud the size of a house was surrounding me.

Around 20 skeletons were knocked out but I was immune to the smoke.

Which made Luther look terrified as I cut down his horse and he went flying to the ground.

I stood over him. And he finally saw my face.

"Jacob!?" He asked scared.

I looked down at him saddened.

"No hard feelings buddy"
I said and I shoved my sword through a gap in his armor.
NPCs don't come back from that.

Instantly 90% of the Skeletons dropped dead.
The ones Luther had created.

My ones were quickly destroyed.

A cheer went up

The city was ours.

More importantly The city is still mine.
