[A/N] Three dots mean some time has passed by.

"Akira! Hurry up and come downstairs. Its dinner time!" my mother's slightly high-pitched voice echoed through the hallway.

"Akira! I'm not calling your name again! Come down, now."

I ignored my mother and ran my fingers over my glitter journal, some of it sticking to my hand. The texture was somewhat calming to the touch, I should probably get rid of it. Who still has one of these at 16?

As I walked downstairs the half-unpacked kitchen looked like I walked into someone else house. I quietly sat down, and my younger brother started shoveling food into his mouth. You'd think he was starved with how he ate.

"Asahi, how many times do I need to tell you. I don't know the Heimlich, slow down." My father scolded. His eyes had bags from how much work he's been doing. His short hair starting to grey.

"Akira," he sighed, "why aren't you eating?" slight concern in his voice, and slight distraction by my brother who was sending peas flying.

I pushed the broccoli around on my plate. "Vegetables have feelings too."

"what, did your boyfriend break up with you" my brothers half full mouth mumbled out.

"Boyfriend?!" my father slammed his fork down and shook the table.

"If you guys don't EAT YOUR DINNER I SWEAR...!" my mother stood up, that's when you know she means business. She huffed and sat back down, moving her light blonde hair behind her ears. It came to about the middle of her neck. She thinks it makes her look younger and distracts people from the fine lines that are appearing in the corner of her eyes.

She's always been beautiful, though. The only vivid childhood memory I have is how my mother was always as radiant as the sun.

Always.

I sat back in the chair and slouched my shoulders. My brother making up a boyfriend for me and working dad up.

"You'll be fine" my mother smiled at me, "just get a lot of rest tonight."

I nodded and put my plate in the fridge, maybe I'll get hungry later.

After everyone was done eating I helped my brother with the dishes and bathed.

I entered my half empty room and slumped into bed. I'm the worst. This is all because of me.

a knock on my door didn't faze me.

"Hey, are you alright sis?"

I didn't say anything. There was nothing to say. I didn't move from the wall I was facing. I could tell he was still in the doorway.

"Just so you know, I don't blame you."

My chest became tight.

"I've been wanting to leave that dumpy town before I hit high school anyways! One more year and I can apply to your school, then we can be together!" he said laid back with a chuckle, like this was his plan all along.

It became very quiet.

"This isn't your fault. Get some sleep Shakira." The door shut softly, and I couldn't help but crack a smile. Well, I guess my hips don't lie.

As a gush of wind rolled over my body I shivered. I pulled up my blanket and curled up in a ball.

"Akira! Get up" my mother's voice boomed through my slightly empty room as she swung the door open. I snuggled deeper into my bed in response.

"You're going to be late" she sang in her stunning soprano voice
