Chapter 9: University – May 12, 2013
So far, I’m really enjoying uni.
First of all, it isn’t really that hard. As long as I do my work, I’m totally fine. My grades aren’t that of top valedictorian or anything, but they’re decent for sure.
Second of all, I have a lot of classes with April. I’ve seen Caitlin plenty too, along with a bunch of new friends I’ve made. Caitlin is majoring in science though while April and I are both majoring in communications – I promise I didn’t pick it because she did; actually, I picked before she did and neither of us are the type to pick a major just because a friend is – so I see April more.
But through the first year of university, I’ve kept a healthy friendship with the both of them. In fact, right now, we’re all at a party together.
There’s a complete mass of sticky bodies surrounding the five of us – it’s Caitlin, April, Jared, Chet, and I – but slowly, we make our way through to the drinks.
“April, Caitlin?” I ask them both to be a gentleman, holding up a red cup.
“No, I’m fine,” April politely declines. She’s always been a goody two shoes. In fact, I was surprised when she agreed to come, even though it’s legal to drink here. She has let loose a bit though.
“I’ll have just a bit,” Caitlin says. Somehow she sounds tough with that smooth voice. “I don’t want to get wasted tonight.”
I get Caitlin a little, but I get me a lot. I’m planning on getting drunk.
And boy, drunk I get.
By the time I finish my drink, I’m basically tripping over my own feet. The pounding music is killing my head. Somehow with my blurry vision I spot April, dancing with some random guy. While I’m making my over there, she spots me and walks over, laughing, I think.
April is easier to spot, but Caitlin blends right in with all the other blonds immediately. I lose Jared and Chet too. They’re probably already doing something with some random girls.
“Harry?” She giggles. “You probably shouldn’t have any more.”
“I’m fine,” I tell her, but it takes me way too long to get it out. I’m definitely not fine.
I slide my arms around her waist and dance to whatever shit they’ve got playing in this place.
“Ew, Harry, your breath,” April laughs. “Let’s dance when I can actually stand near you. Next time don’t drink so much.” With that, she pulls away and disappears into the sea of sweaty people again.
Only a matter of time passes before I have girls up against me like clingy cats. There’s only one that I actually stick around with, and she is incredibly fit. Who knows if I know her? I can’t see her face to save my life; I can only see her blondish hair, but that body, man.
I’m kissing her, and I really don’t care. I’m not with April. And she’s always prancing around with another guy anyway. Uni isn’t the time for serious relationships; at least not in the first year.
I can’t even sing my ABCs right now, so when the girl is moaning my name with her silky, sexy voice, I don’t recognize it. I’ll figure it out later – I wouldn’t mind hooking up with this girl after all.
But later I don’t remember anything. I don’t remember who the girl was. In fact, I hardly even remember what we did. But I think she does, because I don’t think she was drunk.
