HORRIFIC NEWS.

"So she smacked the wine glass off the table in anger?"

"Mhm, and guess what else happened?"

"What? Don't tell me she managed to almost hit you."

  "Bingo."

Mom and dad were fighting again. No, dad wasn't an alcoholic and mom wasn't an abusive bitch; they fought over something that was completely over their heads, something of another matter. Dad, who's actually the right one in this situation, ran over nan with his car. And believe me, it did not end well.

Mom got pissed off and even though this occurred months ago, they were still bickering back and forth nonstop which brought the deadline to last night's irritating argument.

"Also take a wild guess on how it ended," I added after a minute of Elora's phone going off a million times in a row. She put the tip of her nail — her really, really lengthy fingernail — on her chin and imagined as if she was thinking to herself.

"I honestly cannot think of anything so just spill the news," she responded and gave up when I shoved a full chocolate chip cookie in my mouth.

I set out a sigh and thickly said, "Well, here goes nothing. My mom's moving to California."

Elora's mouth dropped and the water that was already in her mouth dripped onto her large, frizzy brown hair. At that second, I instantly assumed she would protest because she tipped her head back and groaned out, "No, you are not. You are not going with your mom to California whether I give you permission or not."

I furrowed my eyebrows and asked, "So yes or no?"

  "Permission denied."

  "But —"

"— Florence Elise Wilkinson, you are not moving to California," she announced and stood up from the snowy white couch, ready to almost full out yell at me. I opened my mouth but nothing came out. "What do you think I would do if you were a million miles away from Michigan not spending all your time with me? Jeez, I'm your other half!"

"On second thought, that gives me a reason to not move with her," I respond and she sits down coming off shocked. My face gives her a strange look and interrupt the small talk she held with herself, "Look, I know I seem like I think her idea is wonderful, but seriously, I think it's the worst as well. I don't want to leave you and dad, but I think it's the best decision. Who would want to stay with my dad? He was the one who ran over my grandma so I hope he wouldn't run me over either."

"I thought you were on his side?" She asked and crossed her arms. "Whatever, just do whatever you want. If you move, that's fine with me but I'll cry my eyes out for days because you won't be here. Also, when do you even move?"

I clenched my teeth and slowly replied, "Tomorrow..."

Elora's face dropped to a frown and threw her hands in the air in frustration. "I hate you and your mom."

"No, you love us," I corrected and chuckled while she innocently smiled. Her phone buzzed again for the thousandth time this minute as I stood up from the lumpy couch, picking up the empty plate. My head turned to her direction and eyebrows raising, I inquired, "Who keeps on texting you? Seems like you've got yourself a boyfriend.

She held a glare on her devious face and pointed her long finger at me. "Actually, you're wrong this time. It's twitter and I have friends other than you."

Rolling my eyes, I dramatically applauded and strolled to the kitchen replying with, "Wow, that's so funny that I forgot to laugh. Hey, wait, don't you have a fan account for those celebrities in It?"

The hard wooden floor felt frozen to my bare feet as I placed the plate in the sink, walking back to Elora. She held her face centimeters away from her phone, tapping uncontrollably.

"Correct," she answered and flipped her phone to show me her screen. I squinted, staring at the picture on the phone as she explained, "From left to right, it's Finn, Jack, Sophia, Jeremy, Jaeden, Chosen, and Wyatt."

Staring intently through my glasses, I commented, "Chosen's pretty cute."

She pulled her phone away from my face and stroked the back of her phone as it was close to her chest. "Chosen's mine."

"Okay, like I actually asked," I remarked and pursed my lips when Elora was slipping a smug grin onto her lips. "What?"

"There's a chance you could meet them," she informs cheerily and crossed her long legs on the glass coffee table. Her sky blue socks distracted me from answering. "I mean, you could see them around California since they're staying there for a while. I just hope you do so you could tell them I said hi."

A bubbly laughed escaped my lips and I shook my head. "Don't bring your hopes up too much because I don't think that'll be happening to a luckless girl like me.
