WHO?
09 — Florence
Carter pulled out a vinyl of Mac Demarco's album '2' and held it in front of his chest, the vinyl gleaming brightly at me. I could see my reflection in it and I felt a big smile tug at the corner of my lips. I jumped up and ran towards Carter, squeezing his waist from how tall he was and mumbling 'thank you's' to him over and over again. He placed his hand on my back and I looked up at him while he beamed at me.
"Hope you like it," he said and we split apart after mom awed at us. I glanced in her direction and she had her phone out to snap a quick picture of us.
"I'm putting that on Facebook," she muttered to herself and grinned. Carter rolled his eyes and handed me the vinyl before he walked to a smaller box on the counter of the kitchen. He was rummaging through it and pulled out what seemed to be a stunning golden necklace with roses and a name carved into it.
"Couldn't have forget you, mom," he addressed and held out the necklace in front of her. She gasped and brought her hand to the block which carved a name in; Laura. Her mouth curved into a spirited smile and she took the necklace in her hands. "It might be a tad bit smaller than it originally was suppose to be, but it's something I had to get for you."
"It's extraordinary, just absolutely smashing," she marveled as her fingers grazed over the fine chain and small roses full of gold. Carter's arm wrapped around her neck and she cling onto him for a snug hug, kissing his cheek in the process. "Many thanks, Carter."
After mom put the necklace away, I placed the vinyl on the table and turned to Carter to ask about his career. "How's acting been for you?"
He stuffed a chuckle and shot me a blunt answer, "Exhausting."
I smirked and inquired, "Do you have a girlfriend?"
His face went from a pale, freckled tone to a crimson blush across his cheeks. "God, you have to go in that direction first?"
"Why, is it true?" I shot back and wiggle my eyebrows while his warm face went into his hands. "Tell me she lives in Cali so I can meet her soon!"
"Okay, okay, fine."
Mom whistled and leaned back on the couch, crossing her legs to hear more of his girlfriend. I copied her actions and nodded my head for him to continue with his confession.
"Her name is Angela and she does live in Cali, but in Sacramento," he informed and my mouth dropped open as well as moms. I felt myself getting a bit too excited about his girlfriend and when the plans were on meeting her. Hopefully it's soon because I think I'll probably die if I don't see her at least tomorrow.
"Do you have a photograph of her? C'mon, I need some kind of image to place into my mind!"
"Yeah, let me find her on my phone," he answered mom and slipped his hand into his pocket, pulling out his phone. He instantly turned it on and in a matter of seconds, he was quickly swiping and reached to a point where his face was heating up. The pink blush spread across his freckled cheeks and he turned his head to the left as he shoved his phone to our faces.
A girl with black hair was staring below with long strands of hair flowing down her shoulders. From the perspective, her eyes were a pearly blue and held a captive gaze at a piece of paper in her hand. She wore a coffee — colored jumper with mom jeans and she looked absolutely gorgeous. I wonder how Carter managed to meet his soulmate.
Mom was lost for words and just brought her hand up to her mouth to smile under it. She grinned and clapped her hands together replying with, "Wonderful! You two must get married in an instance or else I'll take your whole career away before you could even say mum."
"But mum —"
She winked at me and chuckled before standing up, dusting her hands off her blue jeans. "Where's the toilet? Sorry, emergency."
Carter smiled and answered, "The second room down the hallway by the kitchen."
Mom patted his shoulder lightly and walked out of sight, leaving Carter and me alone. The air was sticking onto a silent manner and I took my time to admire some of the picture frames on the walls. I noticed Carter was posing beside a celebrity that I've seen over Twitter but didn't know the name of.
"Do you have a boyfriend?" Carter asks out in the open and I snapped my head towards his direction. A sinful smile was dancing across his lips and my eyes squinted at him while I crossed my arms.
I pointed my face to the right to avoid his gaze and derisively answered, "No, why?"
"Come on, you don't have to tell me if it's a secret," he clarified and I observed the mischievous look he was displaying.
"You ignored my question," I stated and rolled my eyes.
"Well," he lubberly looked around the room, "you ignored my statement!"
"Just answer the damn question," I sternly pestered and he let out a sigh he seemed to be keeping inside the entire time.
"Okay fine," he groaned. Whispering, he asked, "Aren't you dating Wyatt?"
I have never given anyone the most deadliest glare and smack on the arm in the entire world until now.
Carter yelped, but not loud enough for mom to hear us. He stated bug — eyed at me and shrieked, "What the hell was that for? Oh my god, you've got a hell of a hand, Loren!"
"I am NOT dating Wyatt!" I tartly addressed and the echoes of thumps coming from the kitchen caused me to shoot my glance up at whoever was approaching us. Mom was standing at the doorway of the living room, a questionable look falling off her face.
"Who's dating Wyatt?"
"Jesus Christ, the neighbor for Pete's sake!"
