06 Florence

"Florence, get your arse into the living room!"

Today was already a week of being in California. A week from seeing Elora literally everyday and it breaks my heart that I won't see her for years upon years. I shouldn't be so dramatic about it, but it pains me to leave her after fifteen years of being best friends since diapers. We're still best friends even if we live across the country and I'm glad we are.

I scurried out of the room while buttoning my beige — colored skirt and walked into the kitchen where my mom called my name. She was fiddling with the strap of her brown handbag and looked up at me when I walked in. Her face was caked with makeup and the red dress she wore fitted her body.

"You look marvelous, Flore," she complimented and the nickname made my heart break. "Are you ready? Jennavive is waiting outside for us and blimey, I hope she's knows where Suzanna lives."

Mom said that we would be visiting a couple cousins of mine that live half an hour away. She wanted us to give off a good impression to them, so she made me wear a skirt while she wore a dress she'd probably wear to a wedding. My outfit was very casual; a loose fitting shirt with a pretty skirt; whereas hers represented her as a model. I mean, mom was pretty but not as gorgeous as Kim Kardashian. Though, Kim's pretty ugly.

Grandpa walked into the room and a bright smile lit his old face. "You two look beautiful. I hope Florence gets along well with her cousins, they're very angelic."

I nodded and looked at my phone in my right hand. People were spamming me with notifications, but I ignored it as mom ushered me out of the room and to the front door. She slipped on a pair of heels while I put on a pair of black vans. She glared at me for not wearing heels like her, but shook it off when we exited the apartment and went to the lobby to meet Aunt Jenna.

"I've been waiting for you for hours!" She exclaims as we went through the glass doors and to her car in the parking lot. "Looks like you two did it well. Dressing up fancy and all."

I sat in the back and went through social media as we drove to my cousins. Twitter was being annoying and I looked through it to see what was up. Of course, the usual where Elora tagged me into stuff on her account and people were just following me and liking my tweets/retweets.

Soon enough, the car stopped at a small, snug house. We piled out of the car and walked to the door, ringing the doorbell to be greeted by a very tall woman with dyed — red hair. Large hoop earrings were dangling from her earlobes and her eyes — oh my god, they were beautiful. Not even beautiful, a ravishing ocean blue that were luxurious to the sight and they matched with her blue shirt. She must be a model.

"Blimey, it's you, Laura!" She exclaimed when she glanced at mom and my eyes could not stop gazing into hers. "I haven't seen you since you were a little girl back in London. You look incredibly smashing like your daughter here. What was her name again?"

"Florence," I answered for mom and smiled at her.

"What a pity that you didn't take your mums accent," she said and crossed her arms, but unfolded them to invite us in. "Come in. We need to talk about several things."

We took off our shoes and stepped into the cool house. The brisk, cold air already slammed into my face as I entered. The smoky grey interior was blank, but an aesthetic of mine. Pretty shades of grey were all around me because of the slate wall color, neutral carpet, and dull paintings on the walls to fill up the blank space. I observed a painting that had a baby crying on a chair surrounded by colorless fruits. It was insanely weird.

"Florence, you can go down into the basement and meet the girls," mom said to me and I nodded, except I didn't know where the basement was.

"Where is it?" I asked and looked at Suzanna and her baby blue shirt.

"Take a left and it's the first door on your right," she answered and I sharply turned, heading straight for the basement door. The milky white door was almost closed as it had a gap between the frame and the actual door. I pulled it open and slowly walked down the steps after I quietly closed it. The walls were painted beige like my skirt and were empty and seemed to go on forever down the stairway.

There were four girls sitting on a edgy, ruby — colored couch and talked amongst each other. Laughter filled the atmosphere and the sound of a tv blarred in the background for the silence's company. They didn't seem to pay attention to me, but when I stepped onto the wooden floor that erupted a loud creak, their heads turned.

"Florence!" One of them yelled and jumped up from the couch. She ran towards me and engulfed me with a big hug that squeezed my insides out. I didn't do anything but wrap one arm around her and awkwardly say, "Hi."

"Mum told me a lot about you," she informed and smiled with green braces popping out at me. "She also said that you'd be moving to California. How is it? Hope it's brilliant for you so far, I really enjoy the scenery at night since it's —"

"Quit blabbering on, Selena, the poor girl just met one of her relatives and already has to deal with an annoying arse," a voice said from behind her. I glanced in her direction and oh my, she looked exactly like Suzanna. Big blue eyes, long red hair, and something pearly blue to correlate with her eyes. She was also tall as well.

"Don't mind her, she's being silly and all that because she finally met you," Selena whispered and the other girl slapped her arm lightly. She glared at her and she stuck her hand out.

"I'm Stella," she greeted and I took her hand. As I shook it, the other two girls walked over and surrounded us. "Those two are Sydney and Sierra. All of our names start with S and I have no clue why if you're wondering."

I giggled and smiled at them. "It's very nice to meet you. I'm Florence, but you already know that."

Sydney and Sierra looked a bit different from their mom(as I assumed who the lady was upstairs). Sydney has dark brown hair and dark blue eyes while Sierra has light brown hair and brown eyes. They were very pretty, though.

"Wait, I've seen you before," Sydney squeaked and put her hand over her mouth. "On twitter!"

I raised my eyebrows and crossed my arms. "Where exactly on twitter?"

"Do you know who Wyatt Oleff is?" She inquired and the other three girls let out mournful groans.

"Don't listen to her, she talks all this nonsense about this boy," Stella whispered and rolled her eyes. "She thinks she'll meet him one day, but she's just got a rotten brain."

"Yes, I actually do," I answered and looked down at my feet but back up at her. "Why do you ask?"

"Because I see you on twitter from his account," she responds and pulls out her phone from the back of her mom jeans. "See — some people were tweeting onto his tweet of meeting that girl. They've got pictures of you, but I don't know why."

Sierra rolled her eyes and added, "What a prat that boy is! Why would he be — oh my, that is you."

I stared at Sydney's phone and my eyes widened at the sight of a picture of me in replies of Wyatt's tweet. People were asking him if I was the girl they met and they even had a screenshot of a facetime screen with Wyatt on the other end of it. Wait, that was me who saw Wyatt and was on facetiming showing someone! That certain someone was Elora.

"Oh my god," I breathed out and cupped my mouth with my hand. "I can't believe this — Elora? Why would she do this?"

"Who's Elora?" Selena asks and furrows her eyebrows. I huffed a sigh out and got out my phone. Elora needs to give me a good explanation for this because I probably won't take any silly excuse.
