The Celestial Lightning

Chapter 2

I look up as I hear a boy call for me. "Lucy!!! Get over here!" Natsu shouts from his place with the rest of the team. I slowly make my way over there from the bar as Mira gives an apologetic look. I smile at her as I turn to look at team Natsu.

"Lucy, news has been brought to us and we'd like to be the ones to tell you," says our very own Titania. "Y-yes, what is it?" I stutter out as Natsu gets a harsh smirk on his face.

"You're so pathetic! Always stuttering and scared of everything! You hide and can't stand up for yourself. You call yourself a Fairy Tail wizard but you're nothing but a weakling. We don't want you on our team if this is how you are." Natsu spits at me as he says this, making the faucet in my eyes turn on.

"Does it have to be this way?" I say as the tears fall down my face. My beloved salmon-haired friend clicks his teeth, "Of course it does, no one wants you around."

I look up at every member of this team, pleading with my eyes if it's true. Wendy and Gray look away along with Carla and Happy. Erza gives me a defiant look as if saying, I don't care, get out of my sight. And lastly, I look at my first real friend at this guild. He holds no remorse for me and just sneers at me.

"So be it. I'll leave this team and not come back to you. I'm sorry if I soiled the team with my weakness." I turn away with a steady stream of tears going down my face.

"No Lucy! We're sor-" Wendy starts protesting but Erza quickly stops her. "Wendy would you like to leave as well?" The scarlet wizard asks sternly. Wendy stayed silent as I make my way back to the bar and Mira. Mira rubs my arm and sends a glare to my former team. I hear footsteps coming from upstairs and I slowly look to my right to see my favorite spark-plug.

"Hey Lu, what's got your face all wet?" Laxus asks with slight concern. There's no reason for him not to be concerned but I wish he would sometimes not care about me. He and I have known each other far longer than I've been at the guild so we have a different relationship but still not the one I wish for.

"Natsu and Erza kicked her out of the team. They called her pathetic and weak and said no one wanted her around. I'm sorry Lucy.." Mira says as she recounts the event to Laxus. I look at him to see him seething and glaring at the fire dragon mage. "I'm gonna teach him a les-" I interrupt him by placing a hand on his arm, noting that the anger off of him forces him to contain it and he looks at me as if i just appeared.

"No Laxus, please. I'm just going to go home. I'll see you all in some time." I say as I get up from the bar.Instead of leaving first, I head upstairs to the Master's office. I knock on his door and hear a faint "come in" from the master. I open and he looks at me.

"Oh Lucy! My child, what happened? Are you okay?" He says worriedly.

"Master.. I would like to take a leave from the guild. This is the only true family I've had and I've been cast aside. Please don't try to reason with me, I've made my decision." I say with fresh tears as Master Makarov looks at me knowingly.

"I understand, my child. Can I have Laxus look over you until you decide to come back to our nakama?" He asks with sincerity.

I say without hesitation, "I have no problem with that. He's always been there for me.."

Makarov says,"Excellent! Do you still want your mark or no? I would hate to remove it but if it is what you want I won't object." I look up shocked.

"No master! I'm fine with my mark. I'll just take my leave." I bow and head to the door. I stop as Master clears his throat.

"Lucy, you do know you always have a place here even if no one else agrees." I nod and thank Master as I go down the stairs. Laxus starts to fall in step behind me as I exit the guild hall.

"I heard some of your conversation with Gramps and I know I'm now your protector. I want you to be okay Lucy. No one should go through what you just did. I'm sorry I haven't always been there for you but that will change. I will always be near you and with you, until the end of time." He slings his arm around my shoulders and I look up to see him smiling at me.

"Thank you.. I'm sorry I'm such a nuisance." I look down. "You're not a nuisance. I  just hate to see you this way. Let's go home." He counters as we continue on our way to my apartment.
