Ethan got sicker and sicker.
It was heart-breaking.
Me, Grayson, Lucy, Cameron and Ethan's parent's spent all of their time with Ethan.
It finally kicked in one night when I couldn't sleep.
I was watching his beautiful face, thinking, I'm actually going to loose Ethan in the next week.
I let out a sob and couldn't help crying my eyes out.
He woke up and pulled me into a hug.
No words were said. We just hugged and I eventually managed to fall asleep.
The next night, it kicked in for Ethan.
"I'm not sleeping, it could be the last time I see you all. Let's all go out tonight." Ethan said.
He put on a brave face for everyone but I caught him crying in the bathroom.
I pulled him into a hug and he cried into my shoulder.
"I don't want to die yet, Lauren. Not yet." He whispered crying. "I've not done enough yet. I haven't married you yet, I haven't had kids yet."
"I know, we'll do it in the next life. I promise."
He looked me in the eyes. "Promise?"
"Promise."
"Ethan you need to rest!" Ethan's Mum shouted.
"I AM GOING TO DIE ANYDAY NOW. THERE IS NO POINT." Ethan shouted.
We were all silent.
Then Ethan's parents both began crying quietly.
"We were hoping, if you rested, you might live an extra day or to." She whispered.
Ethan hugged his Mum tight.
"I've only had seventeen years of my life. I want to make the last ones count."
And with that. Me, Grayson, Cameron, Lucy and Ethan went out.
We went to a nightclub and everyone had a great time.
When me and Ethan were taking a break, we walked up some stairs and managed to get onto the roof of the nightclub.
We had an amazing view of the city. We could see for miles, the lights were Christmassy and amazing. The stars shone bright tonight.
"I'm going to miss this." Ethan said.
"Same."
"This is crazy. But, Lauren, I've known you for six months. I fell in love with you the moment you walked into the room. I love everything about you. I love your smile, your hair, your laugh. I wish I could spend the rest of my life with you. I know it won't be official and I know," Ethan choked on his words. "And I know I'll be dead in the next week, but will you unofficially marry me??"
I stared at him. He got onto one knee and handed me a packet of hula hoop crisps, my favourite crisps. I laughed but then began to cry.
Here Ethan was, proposing to me, under the stars, on top of my favourite nightclub with my favourite food.
"Yes of course." I said beginning to cry.
I hugged him.
"So now, whenever you see hula hoops you'll think of me." Ethan said grinning.
We hugged.
"I love you, Lauren." Ethan whispered.
"I love you too."
"Lauren." He said.
"Yeah?"
"Just promise me one thing."
"What?"
"When I die, you will go on and have your own family still." Ethan said.
I began to cry more.
"I'll try."
And with that, we shared a kiss and walked back to the crazy party.
