Delia came back after a some time. She looked really distracted and almost bumped into someone. I was a bit confused if I should ask her what had happened or just shrug it away.

It had only been some time since we got to know each other, maybe she would feel uncomfortable talking about it?

"Are you alright Deli?" Skyler asked, genuinely concerned about her. Deli seemed spaced out and nodded her head a little in response.

I didn't think Deli was alright, even though she claimed to be. She seemed distracted and anxious for some reason. And all of this was after she got the phone call.

"Whose call was that?" I asked. Amber looked at me and pouted, signaling that I shouldn't be asking her about it so directly.

"Oh, that was just a spam call. Just some guy calling about an insurance scheme." She said, smiling weakly and nodding her head. "I don't even know how they got my number."

The rest of the people at the table didn't seem to be attentive, but I couldn't just shrug it away. I had to know what Deli had on her mind.

"It seems as though you're trying to convince yourself, more than it actually being true." I said, thinking maybe she'd tell me what was going on.

"It is true. I'm not lying, guys." She replied.

"It does seem like you're trying to cover something up Deli." I commented.

"It's nothing, okay?" She yelled, surprising everyone at the table. All of them looked at her, Nat holding a piece of French fries in the air with her mouth open, which she intended on eating.

"I just", she said, in a normal tone, her face clearly one of regret, "I need to work some stuff out."

She grabbed her things, leaving her food untouched and stormed out of the building.

"What was that about?" Nat asked.

"Didn't I tell you not to,-" Amber was about to continue when I interrupted her by grabbing my things and leaving. Noah followed me. I last sentence I heard before leaving was of Amber's, "She never listens to me."

It left me hurt. All I was trying to do was to hear Deli out. She didn't have to throw a fit about it, right?

Or was it wrong to intrude, when I only had a pure intention? Amber's statement proved how she always jumped to conclusions.

I'd give you a list of all the situations where she judged me, purely based on her assumptions, and she always expected me to never judge her. Such a hypocrite.

But, what was wrong with Deli? She seemed so... distant. And ever since that phone call. What was that phone call about? All these thoughts had me so preoccupied that I completely forgot that Noah was behind me. He had to pull me by my arm to gain my attention.

"Earth to Jessica?"

"I'm so sorry Noah. I'm really distracted right now. You didn't have to leave with me." I said.

"That's what I wanted to do. Can I ask you something?" He asked.

"Yeah, sure." I replied even though I didn't want him to. I didn't want to push him away.

"What happened back there?" He asked, just as I had assumed.

"Uh, well, Deli seemed really distracted back there when she came back from her phone call, so I thought it'd be better if she shared it with someone. So, I asked her and she kinda got angry and the result was what you saw." I replied, sighing at the situation I was in.
